    D'you think tools know?

Do tools have a sixth sense or feelings that can be hurt? I had been thinking about a new DX for my portable tools because my old Karcher doesn't have power take off and its bag changing is a pain etc etc but it works fine. Anyway I have put it off a couple of times thinking that its fine and...

Oak and Ash Blanket Box (Finished)

Adam It looks great - well done. I don't think that those 'scrap' panels look bad at all. Bet you are going to stub your toe on it though! Cheers Tim

    My Big Move

I thought you were looking at farms in Devon - what happened? Or was that just a good excuse to get down to Axminster? Hope the move goes smoothly. Cheers Tim

    Lamello Invisi Fixing kit

It was in F&C or maybe FWW a year or so ago. Looked fascinating and potentially very useful for shopfitting and hidden fixings but I don't remember a price. What did the rep say? Cheers Tim

    Ryobi Table saw...

Well, 8 ft really, assuming you are going to cut some thing off! I do agree with you for a small shop, although I use a combination of Festool and rail and TS as appropriate. One thing that the Circ saw/ rail combo doesn't allow is accurate repeatability and given that most sheets are...

Bessey? How do you talk yourself into it?

I have to say that I am with teh Bessey crowd. I have (from way back) 4 big sash cramps that now just gather dust - too heavy, the pins kept coming out when moving them about, crushing my fingers and they leave rust marks if there's water in the glue. They are expensive but I also believe that...

    Ryobi Table saw...

DW You are putting across a fair amount of misinformation. I use a TS2500 day in, day out. I use it for a whole pile of stuff including ripping and cross cutting. I have used it for full size panels in the past although I often rip them down first to be manageable weight wise. It has no...

    Copyright

The fact is that you still need to be prepared to defend any form of copyright. Say you design a piece and photograph it, date it, copyright it etc. A large manufacturer decides to make a piece that appears identical. You challenge them - they pull in their £500/ hour lawyers given that...

Scheppach ts4000 (?) saw on eBay

Its definitely a 2500 - but with a 2m sliding carriage instead of the 1.4m standard. Its also likely to be at least 4 years old because Sheppach stopped making the extending side table in the same pressed aluminium as the main table and switched to steel. Cheers Tim

How Much Wood Does a Jointer Remove?

John Clever fence aside - are you the guy who said he couldn't get his head round Sketchup? GREAT drawings =D> =D> =D> =D> I'm very impressed. Cheers Tim

Scheppach ts4000 (?) saw on eBay

Well may not be the owner, but a pal there of. Why else would you out bid yourself three times? Cheers Tim

Scheppach ts4000 (?) saw on eBay

Thanks for the info Scrit. What's quite interesting here is that both the current owner has bid 3 times and another bidder has bid against himself 3 times in an hour! Cheers Tim

    Ummm Rutlands again (Sorry)

From an aesthetic perspective, I've always thought Dorset to be too 'chocolate boxy', Devon to be about right and Cornwall will probably be very nice when its finished. Cheers Tim

What push sticks do you use to keep the fingers on????

Tony Aside from several proprietary push sticks and pads, I have also recently started wearing these esp with sheet goods http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=A331066&ts=01290&id=56535 I bought them for moving larger pieces of sheet material which can be slippery and difficult to...

    Copyright

There is a huge amount of information out there, a lot of it conflicting. I have often wondered about the legitimacy of copyright, designright etc. The problem is not stating that you have asserted your right but in defending that right. For example if you draw a design for a potential...

    Tracklements

I like the word mithering esp since my wife whose from Kent doesn't know what it means! However, 'outwith' drives me nuts but not as much as the addition of an 's' to million or billion when describing a simple number ie seven million(s) (vs millions and millions). Cheers Tim

    Ummm Rutlands again (Sorry)

You may be right Tony but I also had to wait a month for a couple of Tornado bits and I'm still waiting on a Bucket Boss apron - due now end of April. CYC is waiting for a Jessem router plate so it probably indicates that there is a more general supply chain issue. I agree that writing to...
