    Rate Festo circular saws

Roy The only thing I can think of is that there may be too much side play of the saw on the guide rail. It should move easily along the rail but have almost no side play. It should also be 'toed-in' ie the saw should be fractionally angled in relation to the cut. Its detailed in the owner's...

    Rate Festo circular saws

What I find so extraordinary about this (lets be honest) oft repeated debate is the vehement way that some non owners say don't buy one. Surely its all about personal choice - I couldn't give a monkey's who buys what tool - that's up to them. Good question - I think I can. If I didn't think...

    Rate Festo circular saws

Paul - not sure that's quite correct... Re the question - seems to me that most folk who own one think they are worth the money and those that don't, don't. I have one and the amount of time and effort it saves me in terms of quality of cut and dx means that it has paid for itself several...

I think its a standard Festool promo at the moment - it was in their most recent newsletter and I know Hafele are offering the same. Cheers Tim

Wood suitable for shower head mounting

I wouldn't be too keen on relying on a glue fixing of wood to plastic to hold up something heavy in a damp environment - the most suitable timbers eg teak tend to be naturally a bit oily and consequently don't glue well. I would use rubber washers between the fixing and the plastic and not...

    Festool Basis

Seems to me that to get the basis to do what one would want it to do then the costs climb pretty steeply and I'm not sure would give you much space advantage over some of the less expensive portable table saws (and not tie up your 55 at the same time). I have an MFT and have to say that I am...

    Metabo HC260C Thickneser feed problem

You may also need to retension the drive belt. Its in the instructions but basically undo the far side panel, slacken a couple of nuts, stretch the belt and retighten. But definitely try making the beds more slippery first. Cheers Tim

    Cleaning up and Finishing Ipe

I have an Ipe deck and I also made an outdoor table with offcuts. I only used oil on the table but even so it faded within 6 months or so. You can pressure wash it no problem and also it reverts to colour when its wet - so I have weathered grey decks in the summer and brown ones in the winter...

    Best Woodworking Mags?

I subscribe to F&C, Fine Woodworking and Popular Woodworking. I also get Fine Homebuilding - but thats more because I just find it interesting and they tend to put more built in/ trim carpentry stuff in it than in FWW. I think they all have their good and bad points but there is enough in...
