    NVR Switch problem?? (planer thicknesser)

Was it a new, local purchase? Can you take it back & get the seller to sort? Simple checks - first the 13A plug - take the top off and check wiring. second - with the unit running - wiggle the wires gently at the plug, then the unit. this will identify an intermittent fault in the cable third...

Table saw shortlist needs trimming down (thanks all)

Welcome. Its worth keeping an eye on ebay. Search for Wadkin, Startrite, Scheppach etc. You do get the odd bargain. But be careful. Sometimes you can pay too much... Here's a bit of a bargain (sold tho)- its 3 phase tho - another £75 will get you a 1p to 3p inverter complete with softstart so...

    Links for Manuals Wanted

I've noticed a few requests for manuals on this website. Indeed, I've posted one or two myself, and helped out a couple of chaps who needed some. Would there be a benefit in a seperate Manuals sub forum / repository? If sufficient +ve responses to this post, I'm sure the forum moderators /...

Does anybody have an axminster AW106pt Planer/thicknesser?

I looked long and hard at one of these. Lots of very nice features. Good price too. However... Bought the Record Power PT260 instead. Local dealer, free delivery. Same price ish. The 5 year warantee swayed me. Regret it now. Fence is awful. Move it and you need to set it again with a square...

Tormek - Sign of the times

I've just bought one of these (great price / service from db keighley - thanks Dave). However....a sign of the times is that I can't play the vhs video! No tape player!!! Is it worth watching, and if so, does anyone have a DVD copy I could borrow? 1st impressions are however great - really...

    Tormek Purchase

Hi. I've decided after much research on this site to buy a light duty Tormek (1206?). Best price up to now is £168 inc VAT / Dely. Anyone know where I can get one for any less than this? (Keep missing the ebay bargains!) What's the usual price at a show? Thanks

Gents, I've just acquired the above from my local college - needs a bit of refub so a couple of questions... The counter weight is missing - any clue as to what this weighs? Does anyone have a manual I could copy? Shank size and where is the best place to buy quality chisels? Many thanks...

This link explains it quite clearly. Part P was introduced to reduce the number of deaths / fires caused each year by poor installations. Special Installations / Locations are mentioned specifically - these include garages (ie workshops) along with kitchens / bathrooms - all high risk areas...

does anyone own an Axminster AW106PT Planer/Thicknesser?

Nick, I went through the quandry of choosing a P/T 2 months ago - got it down to either the Axminster or a Record Power PT260. Went for the RP. Same price (£500), lighter (easier to move around garage), bigger motor, 5 year warrantee, decent comms with RP. RP fence is awful. They acknowledge...

    Record planer thicknesser

I bougth one a short while ago after much deliberation. Considered the Axminster - same price but probably a bit too heavy for my small workshop. 5yr warrantee from RP won me over. Its pretty good - imho - but the fence is not so good - follow this link https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/view...
