    No. 7 needing a fettle

Well i finally got my hands on a no. 7 I've been doing a bit of research on fettling hand planes and came across one process where you use bar battery charger and a solution of water and washing soda. Has anyone done this? Is it safe to do this? Is there a better way to do this? This is...

    Woodrat and shop space

I brought up the woodrat in another thread, regrettably really. Sorry Mike. But it got me thinking how misunderstood the woodrat really is. People think that you have to devote tones of valuable wall space, but nothing could be further then the truth. It does not have to be permanently...

    Mike's finger joint jig

I don't dismiss the idea at all. It is a good idea. But the WR can definitely do batch jobs. Maybe not six boxes all at once but one box for sure. If it is a thin box a lot more. For those who think you have to devote a whole wall to the woodrat can think again as well. I have two clips on...

    Axminster AW10BSB2 tablesaw - ORDERED!

After hearing that the Axminster is a better saw then the SIP my interest is peaked. I'd love to see some pictures when you get it and a full review if you don't mind.

    Mike's finger joint jig

I can see how you didn't get on with it then. I really took a gamble getting it. I didn't have much money but i had some v notches to put in a window frames for grills. These grills are only 1/2 inch and are on both sides of the double glazing, so the woodrat became so handy for cutting the...

    No. 7

Turns out not to be a bedrock at all!!! I have no idea what it is actually. I bought it as i need a no. 7 but now i'm curious what i actually bought. The body is stamped with WODEN on the front It is made in England and has a stanley blade? There are no markings at all on the cap...

    Mike's finger joint jig

It is only the truth, and quite frankly how many jigs does it take to justify actually getting proper tools for the job. I don't buy things lightly, my income does not allow it. So when i buy something it is because it is well worth it. The amount of time and space in jigs and fixtures...

    New Bow Saw

I've never used one of these. What do you use it for? What is the scale of it? is it like a coping saw or like for sawing logs? How do you keep the blade tight? Is it a show piece or something you use in the shop? Looks nice, not so used to tools being in a light coloured wood though.

    No. 7

I haven't seen it yet unfortunately. But i need something to join guitar tops. He just said it was a bedrock and it was a No. 7 so all i can do is assume it is a No. 7. So if it is a 607 how do i know? Stamped 607 i assume? I'll report back tomorrow on what it actually is. I just let him...

    Unknown handlpane

Thanks for so many replies and opinions, i've learned a lot through them. Seen this little thing on ebay USA it reminded me of the one i seen. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260552073090&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123 I can't believe how much he wants for it.

    Galoot Block Plane - WIP

That's quite a looker *whistles* Great job. The only fine work i'll be doing for the next little while is jack hammering and concrete work. Can't wait to get into the guitar shop for some fun stuff.

Finished: Beside Table - Pine and Walnut

I like the contrasting wood! You have a scroll saw, what type is it? I've been thinking of one of these for doing inlays for guitar necks and such, what type do you have and how noisy is it? I had one years ago, bought it for my son for Christmas to make little stacking animals etc. but the...

THE WORLD'S SAFEST TABLE SAW - Will Not Cut your fingers!

What about the apprentice that decides to try it just for ***** and giggles? Your saw is down till you get a replacement and it cost you for the part. It doesn't look so attractive then. If you think they won't do it think again.

    Axminster AW10BSB2 tablesaw - ORDERED!

I agree that is their current policy. So what do you think would make them change that position?
