    Dust Extraction Problem!!!

Michel, I have the HA2600 with fine filter and it works fine with most of my machines - but I fully concur with the above posts - this type of extractor isn't designed for every tool in the workshop, and I end up using my old shop vac for the smaller tools. I find the HA2600 works very well...

    Website software

Aragorn, I think you're going to have a learning curve to deal with irrespective of the tool you end up using. I've tried FrontPage in the past, and its a great tool (and will get you up and running quickly), but the problem is that it's almost too easy to add all the bells and whistles using...

    Website software

Hi Aragorn, I think it very much depends on what you want to do, and how you intend to go about it. I don't have much experience with these kind of tools (I use Adobe GoLive myself, which is very powerful but not exactly straightforward to learn). I'd recommend that you download one of the...

    OUCHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many thanks Slainte, Your detailed explanation has actually made me realise where I was going wrong before (when attempting with the guard covering when planing) - which was basically the temptation to keep at least one hand applying pressure on the in-feed side all the time as the work is...

    OUCHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Incidentally - my take on planer guard technique (my planer doesn't have a kidney shaped guard) - is to expose enough of the blades to let the work past (passing the work to the side of the guard) and using push pads. I find that having the guard completely cover the blades (and having the work...

    OUCHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's an interesting point DW, and something I keep changing my mind over. However, in Signal's case it seems that the guard contributed to the accident rather than preventing it. Signal - if the guard wasn't there at all presumably the mishap wouldn't have happened? I just can't help...

Thumbs up Axminster - Bog Off Rutlands :-)

I don't think Rutlands can argue with the range of experiences on this forum - in particular the taking of your money on the day of the order irrespective of dispatch date. That sort of thing has to be down to their sales/business policy, which presumably means they're unlikely to change it...

    OUCHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Signal, Wow - sounds like a nasty moment , but thankfully not as bad as it could have been. I wish you a speedy recovery. Just shows you can never take anything for granted when dealing with machinery... Martin.

    Source for 270mm Sawblades?

Gidon, Thanks for that - looks like just what I need. :D Cheers, Martin.

Many thanks Blue_Ice - I'll take a look. Cheers, Martin...

    Turned oak candle holder...

Very nice Adam - doesn't quite fit the "something I just knocked up" description though (far too nice a peice to fall into that category :) ) Interesting that you went the Danish Oil route. One of the things that I do enjoy about turning is the ability take the finished peice off the lathe in...

    Source for 270mm Sawblades?

I'm thinking of buying a new sawblade for my TS2500 - the 24T one that came with it is not leaving the finish I would like. The default sawblade that comes with it is 270mm (I believe this is another feature upgrade in the CI version - previous versions were 250mm diameter I think). Anyway...

Putting a Scheppach hs 2500 ci together - a question

Simon, Yep - I also struggled with the side extension table - not least because it's fairly heavy, and I was doing most of the assembly on my own. However, that aside I think the whole package is very well designed once you've got it all fitted together. You're right about the literature...

    Scheppach Flyer

Aha - therein may lie the difference - I have the slot cutter, which I'm pretty sure is HSS. It sounds like Chris/Waterhead may have the groove cutter, which he reckons is carbide (the catologue doesn't say one way or the other for the groove cutter). Apart from the HSS/carbide thing, I think...

    Scheppach Flyer

Chris, I was kind of hoping I was wong actually :? But I suppose it's at least easier to resharpen steel blades yourself.... Martin.

Putting a Scheppach hs 2500 ci together - a question

Simon, I had exactly the same problem - they've changed the design, and the mounting plate doesn't look like either the pictures in the brochures/magazines, or in the manual itself! I think you've got the idea though - the mounting plate is the one with the 1" bolt permantely attached - the...

    Scheppach Flyer

Chris, I think it comes with HSS teeth that are bonded onto the cutter head as you describe (or at least mine seem to be). Not that I'm an expert, but their catalogue describes it as HSS, and the teeth do look like steel.... Martin.

    Another which bench saw question.

Dan, Well I can certainly recommend the Scheppach TS2500, having recently bought one myself :D. If you search the forums you will find lots of posts about this TS, plus an excellent comparison review by Adam of this and the Jet TS. But you should also factor in a dust extraction system if you...

She's called my bluff - now what ?

Jeff - I can very much recommend Andy Rae's book - see http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1561584029/qid=1097754194/sr=1-14/ref=sr_1_2_14/026-4224888-7068459. Nicely presented in full colour with lots of hints and tips, not just on design, but also tools, jigs, techniques. He covers...

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw advice

Makita LS1013 for me - it wasn't cheap, but once I got it home I soon realised where the money went - very nice to use. I actually went into the tool shop looking for one of the cheaper EB or Delta models, but (thankfully) they didn't stock them so I walked out with the Makita instead. It has...
