Here is a challenge for all turners

No, Aragorn, you are not the only one... :) NeilCFD

    Which router ... quick please

Hi Neil, I'm not sure about your figure for the plunge depth for the DW625EK - I am sure it is 64mm, the same as the (identical I think) CMT 1850. Certainly DM-Tools have it listed as a 64mm plunge depth: http://www.dm-tools.co.uk/store/weeklys ... W625DEAL1L Its a nice router though...

    Which router ... quick please

Dave, I'm sorry to add to your list but I would strongly recommend you look at the Makita 3612C (NOT the 3612 which doesn't have the variable speed) It is just under £200 in B&Q's current 20% off sale (without a case mind you...) or you can get it from dm-tools with a case AND a Makita trimmer...

    News (Gloat warning)

Will you be incorporating a separate finishing room into your aircraft hanger, Charley? Or will you use one of the 'other outbuildings' NeilCFD

Fantastic space Charley... A Felder would look nice in the middle  NeilCFD

    Wood Storage

Hi Neil, Unfortunately it isn't a photo of my workshop - it was from a US site shown in the url further down the message - still, I can dream, can't I... NeilCFD

    Wood Storage

Hi Neil, I know you really want an off-the-shelf solution, but just in case you can't find anything you are happy with, this system looks good, and quite efficient on space: from http://woodstore.woodmall.com/lumstorrac.html NeilCFD

Router table - an idiots guide to safety

I was looking through http://www.woodworking2.org/AccidentSurvey/search.htm this morning and found this description of an accident when widening a groove on the wrong side using the router table. It sounds as though James was very lucky just to muck up his wood... Sorry about the length of...

Hi Waka, Which Record P/T do you have? NeilCFD

    Interesting site

Yep, I'm with you 100% on this one, Aragorn. I can't understand why he doesn't use a router table instead. Dado cutters are scary enough, but home-made dado cutters? Personally, I've never removed the riving knife & blade guard on my TS (admittedly I hate it and avoid using it as...

    Interesting site

I agree Adam - things like the gear cutting jig are particularly amazing. The guy is a genius. I can't help thinking that maybe he doesn't have many commitments outside of work though! NeilCFD

    Storing of router bits.

I think the CMT stuff is fine to leave on - it is according to Axminster anyway: One thing that is important though is to avoid getting any in contact with the bearings on guided cutters, as it dissolves the grease. I take the bearings off before cleaning just to be on the safe side. NeilCFD

Review of Hand Tools - any interest?

Well, here is one vote to have it on the site :) I think Alf will get upset if it doesn't go in the Hand Tools section  NeilCFD

    CT150DL assembly

Noely, I'm 99.9% sure that Roger went for the CT150 rather than the CT150DL. Nice Avatar by the way... Regards, Neil

    CT150DL assembly

Hi Roger, Sorry you're having a run of bad luck :x Re: the CT150, I hope Axminster sorts it out for you, but if you need to contact another CT150 owner, I know that AndyBoyd on the 'other' <cough> forum has one - you could give him a try. Alternatively if you can find an address anywhere on...

    Forum users' Planers & Thicknessers

Hi Roger, I've put it down as a CT150 rather than the CT150DL as I'm sure from our correspondence that this is the one you went for in the end - please correct me if I'm wrong :) Neil

Can I convert a gif into an avatar?

Hi Neil, Thanks for adding it to the other thread. It sounds like you got a very good price :D Ah, well that would be because I'm not from Ireland originally - I'm actually Manx. Before anyone asks, no I don't have three legs. It is true that the cats have no tails though... I get called...

Can I convert a gif into an avatar?

Hi Neil, Can I ask where you got the Makita thicknesser for £349? I'm not at all jealous, honest...  Also if you have a moment, please would you post to the 'Forum Users Planers and Thicknessers' forum so I can finally register a vote for the Makita :) Thanks, NeilCFD

    Random Orbital Sanders

Thanks David & SC, glad to hear it is as good as I thought :) It is especially good to hear that the dust extraction works well. One 'comment' I've read about the Metabo in other reviews is that it is a bit heavier than some of the other ROS in that price range - whether this is a positive...

    Foxy new cast iron tablesaw

John, I think you inadvertently hit the nail on the head for me for the reason why I get annoyed about Record: Why then, taking this Fox tablesaw for example, does the Record equivalent (priced at £799 + £280 for sliding carriage = £1079) cost £350 more than, in my mind, the identical saw...
