    Operating DVD from within cupboard

Hmm. I'm pretty sure there is a gizmo. I saw it advertised the other day but I can't remember what or where cos I was looking for something else. I expect someone'll be along in a minute and trump me! Ike

    Digital cameras for photographing projects

They are getting a lot better now. I believe Casio's can be particularly fast in this respect. I'm no expert but FWIW, I rate Canon compacts as very good in respect of optical quality. Many models use glass lenses where plastic is the norm. I've used the IXUS 430, A70, A95 and 520 models. They...

    Groove Router Bit... What size?

As you don't have a router table, another method is to cut the panel grooves on the sawbench. Means removing the crown guard though, and setting the riving knife below the blade crown. I found getting accuracy was tricky on my contractor saw, but I imagine it's dead easy on a more solid...

    Groove Router Bit... What size?

Maybe a 1/4" to give a little clearance for assembly and movement? I use one of these <www.rutlands.co.uk/cgi-bin/psProdDet.cgi/TR6||@cRouter%20Cutter%20Sets@b|0|user|1,0,0,1|34|> (same but mines from Jesada), to give me a good range of slot widths in one cutter. Ike

    Workshop Flooring - Laminate????

Hmmm. A neat solution, but could it also work against you? Floor sockets can 'dedicate' where your machines go, restricting future changes in workshop layout, or even if you simply want to move stuff temporarily for extra working space. They could possibly end up being more of a trip hazard...

    I'm off..

You've left it a bit late to knit yourself a chain mail suit. About 30,000 M6 spring washers should be enough!

    Pub with no beer

That's bad enough. My wife was job hunting before Christmas. She signed with 3 job agencies. The phone didn't ring. Followed up a bit later. "Of course Mrs Dart, we'll have something very soon"...<tumbleweed>....days pass....<another tumbleweed>...other check-in call...<lots of tumbleweed>...

    ROS - How aggressive??

Mike, For stock removal as described, you need, like a 5mm orbit. Unless you already have a finishing sander, how about a dual orbit machine to give you the best of both?, to finish sand the doors as well. Ike

Table Saw & P/T Buying Advice

Have you considered the Kity BestCombi 2000? It is essentially the same saw as the 419. I have used one of these machines and was impressed with the general design and build quality. It stands out from other combination machines for having 3 separate motors, with safety interlocked controls...

    Bench grinder for primary bevel

I think it is very difficult to avoid losing the temper of the steel without using coolant, even with a light touch. Because the edge in contact with the wheel is so thin, heat transfer is very limited and you must always dip the tool edge in water every few seconds. As you want a low-cost...

    ROS - How aggressive??

Do you mean 'aggressiveness' in terms of stock removal or holding onto it?. For stock removal, bigger orbit = faster sanding, smaller orbit = finer finish, regardless of the pad diameter. Bigger pad diameter will make it more forceful controlling the direction, but so too will a bigger orbit...

    Just had to share this

Low-tech - but perfectly safe. If it's too close it'll just cool the soldering iron tip too much. Ike
