MIG Welding with or without GAS (co2)

Mcluma, I'd recommend using gas. It's much easier and will give better results. My MIG is 160A max. and this I think is on the limit for a 13A std socket. I found the fuse doesn't blow, but would get very warm on max. output current, due to contact resistance. Ike

    Router table plate questions

A shoulder pin is used like this for freehand curved work. I only need one hole because I can rotate the throat plate as required to suit the workpiece. That's why you have several holes in your plate. Ike

    Replacement blades for Scheppach TS2500

Drive pins and blade holes - all in the pursuit of safety? Call me cynical but it's also happens to be a very convenient method to cadge Scheppach users into buying extra Scheppach blades (I'm not disputing their quality, only the potential for restricting choice for the buyer). Nice to see...

    Router tables again...

Hi Dave, The Fox, Charnwood, Ryobi and Record are essentially all the same thing, just badge-engineered. The £139 table mentioned is not however as it lacks the sliding table, hence the cheaper price I guess. cheers Ike

    Ryobi heavy duty router table

I don't know guys - I gave up with the blasted webspace thing and tried Imagestation. It seems very very slow. The pictures uploaded last night at only 29kb/s and this morning I can read them at less than snail pace. Is there another site that's quicker. I thinks it's why the pictures aren't...

    Ryobi heavy duty router table

If anyone is interested, here are the mods I did to my Woodcut (Ryobi/Record) table. I machined a recess in the underside to fit the M12V (180 diameter). This makes mounting very easy and exactly repeatable every time. Fully adjustable clamps make the job easier too. The router base...

    Router/router table combinations

Roger, I'm struggling badly trying to show pictures on the forum. So far I've learned to upload them to my webspace but it starts 'ftp'. I've followed Adams guide but am stumped at the moment. Time out for a bit methinks. Any further help appreciated. Ike

    insulation or what?

Paul, Do you get doorstep recycling where you are? Here, we can put out paper, (but not shredded or Yellow pages). Any sensitive stuff I either burn, or shred. The 'clean' shredded paper i.e. not too much ink, I chuck in the compost bin. All in all I usually manage on the 1...

Yes, yes and yes. It's called Warmcel, see here. Indirectly, I'm sure we still contribute assuming some of the content comes from the domestic recycling wastestream. Ike

    ebay scam

As long as you bid no more than you judged it to be worth to you in the first place, then why would it be necessary to question the value if a second chance offer is subsequently made? Ike

Elektra Beckum planer HC 260. Help please.

Roger, I understand your frustration because I've gone round that loop with my Scheppach in the early days. On the assumption that most if not all surface planers work on the same principle, all I can offer based on my own experience is this, Checkingwith the infeed table at the "zero"...

    Ryobi heavy duty router table

Yup, "out of the box" the tables' got it's faults, i'll be the first to agree. But it can be "tweaked" without much cost, into a very competent bit of kit, and yes, apart from the super solid cast iron table, the sliding table is the clincher. Ike
