Hi Ian, Two of my fingers will almost certainly be ok, the other is a bit of a mess and it's early days yet, fingers crossed :) The thing is you can't gaurentee it wont happen again no matter how much you concentrate, but if we strive to improve safety we can gaurentee to reduce the risk.

Ian you're bang on with your comments, and I know my statements 'I thought I was fairly H&S conscious...' and 'put my hand in' appear to be a contradiction in terms...To explain, I always try to follow safe working practices (i.e. use of guards, googles, masks etc.) and this is what i was doing...

Looks nice wood and I like the contrast Jignesh. I've used biscuits on 1 1/2" oak tables and had no problem with them. I would think they would be fine. I'd like to see some pictures of the finished article :lol: :lol:

I got a lorry load of that stuff years ago free from work. They were about 6" x 3" blocks of varying lengths but noone would cut them for me. I wasn't a woodworker at the time and had no idea what I had. I tried sawing it by hand...tooo hard!! Then I borrowed a chain saw from a friend and...

A lot of the French farmers use almost the exact same method to split wood, my neighbour does it. The only difference is they attach the 'Thunderbirds spiral' to the back of the tractor. eeeeek is what I thought when I first saw it.

How that guy got to that age with both arms still in tact is beyond me. Scary.

Has anyone ever made a cat flap from wood. A friend has had a house built and wants to put a cat flap in the door, but the only size he can buy is too big for the space he has on the door. So I thought I might be able to make him one to size in wood. Anyone point me in the direction of some...
