    Dowel jigs

Hi Phil, I looked at the Joint Genie some time ago and liked the look of it but ended up going for the cheaper Axminster jig http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-ax ... prod21981/ It's not as flexible as the Joint Genie and perhaps consequently has been sat on the shelf unused since shortly...

Wood choice for a 'buryable' treasure chest?

Before I started woodworking I built a retaining wall out of green heart and when I asked someone in the know what to treat the bit that was going under ground with, he said I didn't have to treat it as it would out last me, even under ground untreated! No idea what it's like to work with...

    Which scms? On a budget!!

Hi Guys 'n ' Girls, I'm in the market for a new SCMS but have a budget of <£200. What would you more knowledgable folk suggest? Would a factory refurb be an option or perhaps a good second machine or am I better going new but an inferior brand? And if so - which? Grateful for any help Froggy.

Wooden rake making.... R.I.P. Trevor Austin

Great video Andy. I love the way he takes his time to check his work at every stage. You'd think after so mant years it would be easy to become complacement and move quickly and robotically from one task to the next, but he seems to treat that rake as if it was the first he's ever made. Very...

    Walnut roll

Hi BSM Thanks for the pic post. I have a lathe but wouldn't call myself a turner. I did think about the cradle jig and planking. Maybe try to make a nice box, and I want some walnut dowels from the offcuts to use as a contrast to the oak in another project. I've never worked with walnut before...

    Walnut roll

Any suggestions (polite ones Rolling Eyes ) as to what I could do with it? Sorry I had to use a link, still don't know how to...

    Which coping saw?

Hi chaps, I need to buy a new coping saw for dovetails. Can anyone recommend a particular one or are they all much-of-a-muchness? And does the blade matter? I would've thought the thinner the better, but straight or spiral? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks Froggy.
