    Cheap Painters Pyramids

Really? Which ones are you buying?

    level workbench

Sorry, if I'm following this correctly, you're looking to have about 58mm (94 - 18 - 18) of the self levelling compound in thickness? Sounds like it might be quite heavy, which would only be a problem if you intend to move the thing. How strong is this stuff when it's set? Is it brittle at all?

Best right angle attachment for drill/driver?

In which case, you may also be interested in this article, as much as I hate to plug my own work! Metabo's angle attachment looks like it's been designed for the Max 12 Powermaxx drill. I don't know whether it's backwards compatible with others, or even if it's available separately. It is...

    New Circular Saw

Porpoises... I know I heard that line (or one very similar) somewhere within the last week - and it's bugging me as I'm not sure where it was!! :-D

    Cheap Painters Pyramids

An interesting idea. Do you blunt the tips of the screws?

    Or, a Metabo!! ;-)

    Planer waste

Anything I've swept off the floor generally goes in one of the green bins at the local recycling centre. With "cleaner" shavings, I usually build up a few bags and list them on Freecycle. Occasionally, I've been able to sell them at £5 a bag through local advertising sites... 8-) Though...

    Workshop Revamp - WIP

Thanks, Steve - that looks like a great solution. How does it fold and, most importantly, what prevents it from folding up again while it's in use? I am struggling a bit with the 4x4 ladder as I don't have a lot of room in which to configure it, unless I open the door and take it outside first...

    New Circular Saw

If I understand this correctly then, I think this is to 'undercut' the edge slightly so that it butts up to a surface which may not be perfectly plumb or level. A lot of jigsaws now have a similar feature. It's probably got more to do with joining boards though, as you're unlikely to find a...

    Pallets

If you're going to be feeding these boards back through a machine then, a stiff brush would be a good purchase, if you don't already have one. Some kind of metal detector would also be useful - 'pallet wood' can pick up a lot of grit that would quickly ruin your knives and cutters. Nice idea...

    Sliding mitre saws

One of Hitachi's saws (it's a twelve-incher) is certainly worth considering as it gives you option to butt it up close to a wall where, on too many other saws, the rails sticking out the back waste far too much space. I used to own a Bosch GCM 12 SD but didn't find it reliable enough. Steve...

    hand electric Planers buying advice

If you're after a 110v tool, I've got a Metabo HO882 that I'm looking to sell... :-" ;-) Nothing wrong with it; I've barely used it in the time I've had it. I would rather have a 230v tool (and, I've just bought a second-hand, single-bladed Bosch 40-82, which I've yet to try!), that's all.

    Workshop Revamp - WIP

Finally managed to get back on this today and get the last few sheets of chipboard fixed down. Would have done this a few days ago but, that sore throat I had developed in to a cold that'd kept me out of the workshop until today. With a new pair of brushes fitted in my circular saw, I...

Best bandsaw for 400 to 600 pounds?

I've never had a problem with Record Power's service, or the quality of any of their products that I've owned. It's only when you do the damage yourself though, that the warranty doesn't apply... Which bandsaws in particular are you looking at? Some of Axminster's range look better than...

    Bandsaw noise

How old is your machine? If it's new and doesn't stop within ten-seconds then, there's certainly something wrong. Would be worth contacting Startrite, if it's still under warranty. On my 401e, the brake kicks only only after you release the stop button. If you continue to hold it down though...

    Rough Noise Tablesaw

Do you know whether this machine has a universal brush or induction-style motor? If it's the former, it could simply be that the brushes need replacing (as with portable power tools). If not, are there any drive belts? It might be worth checking their condition... I'm sure someone else will be...

    Dust Extraction

Apparently, you get better suction/airflow through a ridgid pipe (something like plumber's pipe). That's why people often run these along the walls and ceilings of their workshops, with flexible hoses and blast gates then coming off where required. Not sure of the best place to recommend but...

    Drawboring

I'd say it should be okay - but, at the same time, I'm open to the interpretations of others with more experience... I've done it with less of a distance before (on a smaller scale), with both parts redwood, and it worked out fine. You certainly wouldn't want anything less than 10mm.

    Statrrite 352 table modification

Very simple. I like it. :-) Will you also be adding one to the other edge? You could probably even attach another for outfeed support...
