    A truly mobile workshop

Wow! Where do you put all your wood? I assume you don't have an apprentice with you often? :D

    Thinking of upgrading my SCMS

I bought a second-hand LS1013 not long ago. It had seen a lot of site work and spent the previous nine-months in storage but, with a new pair of brushes and a sharp blades, it cuts perfect mitres and is very accurate at cutting 90°, too. Probably not as easily portable as the Festool though and...

My New Invention - Please let me know what you think

I think it has an appeal to beginners and I bet it's more effective than the saw what the laser line  that came out a couple of years ago!

    Adze wanted

Don't suppose you're carving a chair seat, by any chance?

Let the world in or Shut the Sun out?

I also keep the door shut when I'm making lots of noise. With the door open, it doesn't get any cooler, either - too cold in the winter; too hot now... I'm never happy! :D It's the corrugated roof that makes it so unbearable at this time of the year - I must stop spending money on tools and save...

It says the plane is sold now - who bought it? I hope they didn't get ripped off... :?

Sounds like a generous price, considering! :)

Green oak dining table and bench

I think you can buy small sample pots of that Osmo UV oil... Smith & Roger sell it from their website but, the postage might make it infeasible, unless you're buying something else at the same time? Maybe you have a local stockist of Osmo products?

    Best Small Bandsaw part 2

Woodstar is basically Scheppach's "budget" range. I've not used anything from this kit but, I wouldn't expect this bandsaw to be much different to the Axminster-branded one your are looking at. Without looking too closely at the specifications, I think I would still go for the Axminster saw...

Green oak dining table and bench

I've no idea how it would work on green oak but, this Osmo UV Oil looks to be one of the best exterior finishes around.

    Dining table W.I.P

Hi Miles, Have a look at page three of this document from the HSE website. Note the wooden 'shaw' or 'tunnel' guards, which keep the timber held firmly against the bed and fence (to prevent kickback) and also, by creating a tunnel, you fingers should not come anywhere near the cutter block...

    More boxes.

Very sorry to hear of your troubles. One of the hardest parts is admitting to it, which is also the first step on the road to getting better... On a more positive note, these boxes look very well made. :) Some people say that 'keeping busy' is one of the best cures for depression and similar...

    Side Table Design

I haven't had much time to think about this at all, lately. Although, I still set on the idea of using walnut on the top, somehow... These are my latest ideas, which I have, literally, just drawn up! Or, with my limited supply of walnut, I may just veneer an MDF panel with...

    Dining table W.I.P

If you will insist on removing the guard to plane your edges then, I'd recommend you at least bring the fence up much closer to the front of the machine, so that a minimum amount of the cutter block is exposed (just enough to cut the thickness of your timber). :? Or, leave the fence in its...

Green oak dining table and bench

Looks good to me. Nice and chunky. :) Have you put a finish on or are they being left to naturally go silvery-grey? I'm also sure the reason no-one else has yet replied is because we're all so jealous of your workshop space!!

    Ash TV table - FINISHED

That's often my excuse for buying too much wood as well! :D Although, sometimes, you also have to buy boards "as they come"... (Perhaps I should try working to them "as they come", one day... :P ) Looks good so far, Chems. I notice you didn't cut the painted ends off before thicknessing -...

    WIP : Tall Storage Unit

Sounds like this is the "standard" for furniture education workshops, today... Our in Bristol is very much the same and I've also read similar comments from other students on this forum. At least it's nice and warm in the winter! :D Assuming you can't break-down your assemblies any more, have...

    Skeleton Chest

Disregarding the knots (which I also think should be 'replaced', if possible ), I think done a good job, otherwise, of sorting your timber, which is often crucial in so many projects that we do. With all that repetition, once you've finished sorting your wood, progress should be pretty...
