    Internal doors from scratch!

I make my own doors and have made them for friends too. I don't know about the UK but it isn't easy or quick. What is wrong with the original doors? It is hard to believe they could be worse than doors made with construction grade timber.

Importing machinery from the EU - customs clearance

As far as I am aware the vendor has to put the tariff code on the invoice so I dont think you need worry about that. If it were me I would find out who the shipping company is and ask them for a breakdown of costs involved.

    Lets see your wood

This has been sitting on the ground for a good few years. Not felled by me but the guy who did fell it seems to like felling more than taking away. I haven't been in a position to retrieve it until now. 99% sure it's hornbeam and it is definitely spalted. 8m by 50-60cm diameter. Pulled out a...

Experience of / Advice about : Retrofit underfloor heating

As MikeJhn says, unless you insulate well under the pipes, or the slab has insulation under it, which I guess is very unlikely, you are going to lose a lot of the heat. The flooring you put on top is also important because wood will tend to insulate and stop the heat coming through. I have...

    Festool OF2200 vs 1400

1400 is plunge. Great all round router with excellent dust extraction. I bought a Makita to replace my MOF 96 but quickly sold it and bought the OF 1400. No regrets

    What Generator To Buy

We regularly have power cuts and running a wood fired boiler means we need to be able to back up the supply. I believe the most important thing is the quality of the output. More and more white goods have electronics/computers, my boiler does, and a dirty supply could damage circuit boards. We...

    decent mortice door catch reccomendation

Can someone suggest a decent door catch brand? I have just bought a Carlisle Brass and whilst it isn't the worst I've seen it could be better. When I lived in the UK I always used F Allart at home but that may be over the top for this job
