    What about Cascamite?

It's virtually the only glue I use. I use it because I thought it was friendly, never reacted to it and open time depends on temperature.

    Lets see your wood

My son wanted a lift to Milan so I popped into a high end timber dealer whilst I was waiting for him, unfortunately I couldn't resist. The widest piece is probably Platymiscium Yucatanum or Mexican rosewood, it is what is left after veneer has been cut. About 1/2" thick, 2,5m long. It's a shame...

    Table Saw Blade advice

Maybe my saw is set up incorrectly but I have never achieved a rip cut that can be glued up off the saw without planing first. I know they advertise rip blades that should achieve that but I doubt it is really possible.

    Table Saw Blade advice

That's odd because I have been using the same Freud blades for many years, I haven't had to replace them, and they work very well. Mainly rip blades. Maybe the quality has gone down in the last 20 years?

    Jig for bandsaws

I have the bandaaw buddy, easy enough to make something similar for less. I find that on smaller blades it is too heavy and slides down the blade. I use it every time I go back to the saw to check the blade is parallel witht the fence.

No, I would like a small lathe for turning handles and knobs.

    Santos rosewood, price?

About 10,000 euro / m(3) or £300 per cubic foot, I think. I cant afford a lathe but am tempted to buy a few boards for something in the future. I cant resist, I have a garage full of timber converted back in 1996 in Ireland. I still haven't used any of it, apart from walnut crotch I have cut a...

    Santos rosewood, price?

There are lots of small pieces, luthier supplies, turning etc, but no large boards. Which would cost more?

    Santos rosewood, price?

Does anyone have an idea of the price of Santos rosewood? 2" and 3" boards 8-10" wide, 6-8' long.

Very difficult to find in Italy. Banggood often has good prices.

Importing machinery from the EU - customs clearance

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. The seller has been quite clear. Apart from considering whether you want to take the risk of receiving and dealing with a faulty machine, this is a procedure that happens every day. Slightly different for me as I would be importing from the UK. As has...

SCM planer thicknesser, timber not feeding

has been the same since new. I preferred my previous 6" "toy" Scheppach which gave better finish. The main problem was it took so long to discover why I was having problems. Boards would start to vibrate giving a very poor finish and finally would stick producing deep gouges in the wood. I often...

SCM planer thicknesser, timber not feeding

I have an older 12" minimax. The feed roller is steel and even the smallest amount of dust on it makes the wood jam. I wish I had never bought it. I have to clean and lubricate the feed roller constantly. It also has 4 plastic screws which can be seen from above to adjust the tension.
