    Cutting Straight with a Jigsaw

I knew somebody would answer with the F word!!! Yes, a festool would be great, I am going to treat myself to one of their saw and rail kits. Failing the Festool and resulting lack of cash route then any top tips would help. G

    Cutting Straight with a Jigsaw

Hi, On a few recent projects I have found that it has been quite hard, if not impossible to get a good straight line with a Jigsaw. I have used a guide for the cuts but I find that even under very gentle pressure the blade deviates in the material (ply and softwood) and so makes the edge non...

    Cutting Skirting with new SCMS

I have done exactly the above at home and it looks great. 7 or 8 inch boards in a high ceiled room look great too. External mitres are a little bit tricky without a SCMS mind. Make sure you seal and small gaps between the wall too, as looks alot neater as noted above. G

    Cutting strips on TS

That looks great. Would a Festool and long guide rail get a result as good as that?

    Advice on self-employment

Hi, Sounds like you have an interesting task ahead of you. I agree with the post that simply says notify the revenue of your income and costs associated with this one off period of trade, it would be absurd to look into incorporation for this. One thing you should also consider is the...

I would like to buy a SCMS

Well depsite what some people think an older unchanged design as you say is sometimes best. If something does what it says on the tin day in day out then that's great. As long as the new models have the same manufacturing integrity as the old, rather than doing what Scheppach have done for some...

I would like to buy a SCMS

I am currently saving some pennies for a SMCS and in the opinion of the guys here what is the best one to get for accuracy and ease of use. Budget wise I am happy to spend if I know that it is good and will be very useful, accuracy is a must as I will be using for some furniture and kitchen...

    Designer furniture, price vs quality

All, Some interesting points on previous post. I was interested in what a Clive Christian kitchen looks like, so popped in to a branch to have a look. I have to say that I was pretty surprised, the quality was very good, but didnt warrant the basic 60k price tag they go for. It seems that most...

    Here comes the new workshop

Just testing this picture posting out, so hopeful. After a bit of effort learning about bricklaying, and roofing, this was the end result. Only problem is a not huge for the table saw and the p/t, but does the job.

    Portable table saw, Which one?

Hi, I have the Ts2010 with the extensions etc, it's a pretty good package though not ultra portable, though get in car/van easily. It has pretty good dust extraction when twinned with a DX5000. Is dead quiet too. the only gripe is that there is a bit of play in the rail for the mitre fence and...

    Arghh, Which Extractor????????

Had a look at the Record and seems like that is the most likely candidate, good too that goes down to 0.5micron as in light of some recent posts on here then everybody needs to be careful about what they inhale. No Wet and Dry in my place, I am hoping to get a beer fridge on a spare socket in...

    Arghh, Which Extractor????????

All, Been thinking over what extractor to get for my new workshop. From the history I have read through there is a host of info on what to get dating back some time. Has anybody got any ideas of an extractor that will preserve my lungs and wallet as far as possible. I won't be doing any fancy...

My work is moving......some advice please

Hi, Nola, sorry to hear about the awkward employer. Having reviewed the above responses then I would say they are pretty to the point. The interesting issue is that you don't have an employment contract, do any of your peers have a contract of employment? Your employer really should have a...

    Here comes the new workshop

First of all can I say what a useful forum this is, just about to kit out my new workshop so thought would share and see if anybody had any useful advice. Spent last summer knocking down a rather rickety old shed at the bottom of my garden and since replaced with a brick built outbuilding with...
