No sorry I miss read your post  (it was a late night last night)
My fence was spot on parallel to the blade right out of the box but if you need to you can adjust it by loosening a nut.
Like many table saws (including more expensive ones like the TS2500) there is slight play at the end...
Hi Welcome to the forums :D
I bought the Scheppach TS2000 lastyear, you can find my review of it here : https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/review/review.php?id=21 and I can't really fault it - its a brill saw 8)
does anyone know where I can buy second hand table saws/ planers etc...?
You can...
Hi welcome to the forums :D

Has links to router tables which you might want to get some ideas from.
And for some plans you can look here:

Good Luck with the table, if you need any more help please...
Hi Steve,
You might be best asking this question in http://groups.msn.com/ukwoodworking as there are loads of happy woodrat owners there.
If your planning to do a lot of dovetails I would recommend you buy the Leigh jig. This jig has to be the king of dovetail jigs and is the easiest/quickest...
lol Chris
Anyway Welcome to the forums Jeff.
Jester's written some useful infomation about 'bench' planes on her website. You can find it here: http://www.geocities.com/jester27uk/benchplanes.html
Hope this helps,
I went to Ally Pally a few years ago (my first ww show) and did enjoy it and also picked up a few bargins :D
It wasn't as big as I expected but still thought it was worth going. I don't think I'm going this year but I'm not sure yet.
Welcome to the forums Nick :D
Cutting Dovetails by hand is very rewarding but takes a lot of pratice to get right (as you may already know) but you'll be happy to know once you learn they get better and better :).
I am planing to do a how-to guide on cutting dovetails but for the time...
Down at my local timber yard they say its 50p per cut but I've never been charged :D
I think 50p per cut is expensive and woudn't pay it. You didn't say how much your timber yard charges?
Martin,
That would be great thanks 8) If its just a small review you can post it in the review forum but if you want to take some photos for the review, send them and the review to [email protected] and I'll add it to the main review section..
Welcome to the forums :D
I'm guessing you've tried your local timber suppliers (if you have any locally).
SLHardwoods sell cedar and can send the timber to you. Well worth an email to them for a quote.
Welcome to the Forums :)
Okay Sawdustalley has the nu-tool jointer and is very pleased with it you can see his reviewhere. Theres also the Perform jointer which I reviewed here which is £194.96, I also know Duncan from the '4ms' got one for his birthday last year.
If it was me I would rather...
Thanks Argus, Mike :D
Yes I certainly prefer an engineer’s square to a traditional try square. I've never used my rosewood try square since I bought a 4" and 6" engineers squares.
I've never tried a Japanese saw yet, I may never do as I like using my LN dovetail saw for cutting joints...
I've never asked my timber merchant if they could get white oak but if the prices are anything like english oak I woudn't want to get it from them anyway..
British Hardwoods look quite good I haven't tried it yet but I've heard a lot of good things said about them in the past.
I have to say I was very tempted to buy that the other week but didn't due to lack of space in the workshop (still wanted to get on though  )
I'm Glad your happy with it :)
Excellent news zimbo :)
Try emailing/phoning www.rutlands.co.uk for a quote on the TS2000, their price was the best I found for my custom package. Poolewood was the second cheapest (£40 more) http://www.poolewood.co.uk/
I used to love it a few years ago when I was younger :D .
My younger cousin watchs it now, he has it on when he comes to stay and to be honest I can't stand it now :( Its like a badly written sitcom and to make it worse no-one can act. Suppose its quite funny to watch though :)
