Great review A_L.. Homewood is my local shop aswell :) When I move away into the 'aircraft hanger' I'm going to upgrade my TS2000 to a bigger saw. The Jet is on the list, now that I know theres one just down the road I can go have a look :D

How much stuff can you get in a 3m x 2m workshop????

Well last week with it being a nice day and what with moving early next year I'd thought I've give the workshop a sort out and get rid of any rubbish that I didn't need. It was also a good excuse to make sure there wearn't any more snakes in the workshop

    Update

Hi Everyone, Just thought I'd write a quick note explaining why I haven't been around the forums or updating UKW this past month. No I haven't forgotten about you (as if I could  ) I've been ill, for those of you who don't know I suffer from M.E which I've been 'recovering' from the past...

    Dust Extractor

Hi, As billzee points out there is already a review for the DX5000 but another one wont hurt. It'll be good to have two views on it. If you or anyone else wants to write reviews/how-tos/projects just email me the text (word doc or notepad is fine) and any photos you have to...

The new Jet (CAST IRON) Tablesaw

From what I've read - it looks like a very impressive saw and the price makes it even better :) I wouldn't mind seeing it up close at a show. Maybe I'll have a TS2000 for sale when I move to a bigger workshop

Yes you can 'lock off' the plunge lock on the 7529 :)

Fixed base router for router table?

Yes I've heard the Freud 2000 is a good router, It was on my list with the 7529 when I was looking for a 1/2 router :) Gidon, yes on the 7529 you do need to unlock the plunge lock to use the fine adjustment but you don't have to 'plunge' the router all you do is turn the adjuster to set the...

    Dust Mask Bargain

Most of you who subscribe to Axminster's mailing list will have already spotted this but I'd thought I'd mention it as it's a great offer. They have an offer on at the moment for '3M Dust masks'! Normally they are £2.79 but currently you can get 4 for £6.94 :) As I always use this brand I've...

Fixed base router for router table?

Hi Gidon, I can't comment on the Performance Pro fixed base router but maybe Andy can as he reviewed it in Good Woodworking. If I can I'll try and find the issue out for you. I have the Porter Cable 7529 in my router table which is a plunge base but I have no problems atall setting the depth...

    Digital Electronic Calipers

Just to backup Noely's post, I bought some digital calipers at the start of the year and although I don't use them for every project I'm not sure how I managed without them :) I got mine from ToolMan: http://www.toolman.co.uk

The 'readers ads' in the back of woodworking mags (such as 'Good Woodworking') should get you some good results and quick responses :)

    Second hand tools

Hi Barry - sorry to hear about your father :( , There is nothing in the forum rules which says a member can't sell their tools via the forum. However UKW can't take ANY responsibility for the buyer or the seller and I wouldn't advise any member to buy from a guest or someone with a low post count.

    chisels

I've got some Robert Sorby bevel edge chisels, they are very nice and I hope will last a long time. Gill's right about sharpening. You can buy the most expensive chisels on the market but you still need a good method of getting (and keeping) them sharp. My <gloat>Tormek machine</gloat> can even...

    Workshop suprise?

According to what I read lastnight corn snakes are the most common 'pet shop' snake in the UK but as you said at the time I didn't know what it was. Luckily it's got a fairly small head, otherwise we would have to keep the cat indoors :P It turns out the 'snake man' we rang last night lives...

    Workshop suprise?

Taking an unexpected break from woodworking?? Well after tonight I might be.. :? Let me paint you a picture: I’ve just been clearing the workshop after finishing the hall table when I thought I’d clean my router cutters which I’ve been using. I wanted to rest the cutters on something soft...

The table looks great Gidon, you've done a good job :) I think I know what I'm going to be making with the left over oak in my workshop now  You asked for suggestions about finishing.. You may be shocked to hear this from me but what about a nice clear wax...
