    The other way to remove them is burn them out. If they are fairly dry its not that hard to do, but not if they are close to the house, shed, fence, etc. My brother in law took out a big conifer stump, lit a fire on top of it and just kept it burning by adding small bits to it every few hours...

    Countersinks

    I have a cheap set of those, came in a small wooden box, give very smooth counter sinks. :D Not tried them on metal as I am not sure how hard they are, but good quality ones should work on metal OK.

    I have one of those and used with care itt does help to keep the edge on the knives. The care is in not cutting your fingers as much as keeping the angles and number of strokes the same on each blade.     Pillar drill advice

    I agree that buy a second hand machine is a good route to go. The motors on this sort of machine are quite easy to replace, so if you find a nice 3 phase machine close to home, consider replacing the motor.

    Drill press problem !

    Hi Joe, The chuck will just fit on the taper, the friction from the fit of the tapered shaft into the tapered socket is all that holds it in place. I know it sounds a bit odd but that is the way most of then are done. So you need to wind the jaws back into the chuck, clean both parts, use meths...
