    Which Planer/Thicknesser - DeWalt 733S or Kity 1637?

Thanks signal and everyone else. I am convinced I should get the combi, I am not doing this for a living (yet  ). There is a significant price difference between the scheppach and the Elektra Beckum 260 machines. Most of you seem to have the scheppach, is it really superior to justify the...

    Which Planer/Thicknesser - DeWalt 733S or Kity 1637?

Ok, I am getting the ins and out of the differences: 1 - Seperate machines means no setup between tasks, need more space. Only 6" wide planers at resonable price. 2 - One machine means setup between tasks but affordable 10" planer. And less foot print in workshop. I am back thinking I want the...

    Which Planer/Thicknesser - DeWalt 733S or Kity 1637?

Humm, and I always thought that you just fed the would in the planer or thicknesser without any difference!!! I REALLY understand why people want the seperate machines. I may reconsider getting seperates myself :?

    Which Planer/Thicknesser - DeWalt 733S or Kity 1637?

Thanks PitBull, you have given me invaluable information. Can you explain in more details the changes required going from Planer to thicknesser mode? How long it takes etc...

    Which Planer/Thicknesser - DeWalt 733S or Kity 1637?

Humm, I didn't realise you needed to change mode on a combined machine. Does it require a lot of setting up each time you switch? May be it also depends on the machine/brand. Again I'd love to hear from users of the Elektra beckum.

    Which Planer/Thicknesser - DeWalt 733S or Kity 1637?

I am going to annoy some people, but why so many of you prefer having a separate planer and thicknesser, what is the advantage considering it takes a lot more space? Also, does anyone uses or have experience in the Elektra Beckum HC 260? Is it a good machine, I am looking at this one to buy...

    Workshop suprise?

Ahahahahahahahhahahahahahhaahhahaha, sorry I laugh Charley but you painted a pretty funny picture  Of course this will never happen to me, despite my workshop being along a field, thanks to Paddy who banned all the snakes from Ireland. On the other hand I have cows trying to break into...

    Forum users' Table saws

Brilliant, we have a lot more Tables this WE, the stats are getting to show a large amount of fairly big tables. As DaveL said, don't be embarrassed if you have a small table, we want to see what UK (and the rest of the world of course) really use the most. Sorry Billzee, I didn't list out your...

    Elektra Beckum PKF 255 V8

Yes the PKF 255 is the same. Actually all to the left of the blade in the sliding table. This is not a problem unless you are cutting Very thin strips.

Help with "The Router" corner table project

Thanks Guidon & Noely, I think I could reproduce this project from looking at the picture, or something close enough. I showed my wife the picture and she said it's VERY nice but she doesn't like tapered legs in general, furthermore she'd prefer a square table top design. Don't get upset Guidon...

    Elektra Beckum PKF 255 V8

Graham, the sliding table is held in place by 4 big hand tighteners (like bolts with a handle). Those bolts fit into large metal brackets on the main carcass which you can setup to align the sliding table. This means that every time you place the sliding table back on you are guaranteed it is in...

    Elektra Beckum PKF 255 V8

After a long search for the right table saw I have finally made a choice and blew my budget out for the Elektra Beckum PKF 255 V8. I haven't started any project with it yet, but my first impressions are very very good. It feels solid and heavy resulting in no vibration when starting and using...

Help with "The Router" corner table project

Wow Gidon, this is a nice piece. I am planning to make a table for my sitting room on which I'll have a big lamp. This looks like a perfect design for it. Could you send me on the Plan by Mail? (I am in ireland, I can't get that magazine :( ) Post the picture when you have completed the...

    Computer voice recognition packages

I have used Dragon speech a long time ago, and I agree with Signal's review: It takes a long time to train the software but it is worth it in the end as it works very well. If you are using Word a lot this is perfect. I used it about 5 years ago and I am sure it has dramatically improved since...
