    Axminster AW127R 1/2"

Joe. Was looking at the Erbauer model today. Any chance of a review when you've put it through it's paces? Seems good value with plenty of power, too. Ta muchly Gary

what is the quietest router on the market

Hmmm, that may be the skills of a sound editor at work ie. isolating noise and sounds so that the presenter, in this case 'His Norm-ness', can be heard. Although I'm sure someone here who owns a Porter Cable may be able to advise otherwise... Ta muchly Gary

    GWW Workbench

Right, that's it! I'm off out to buy my GWW tomorrow morning ( not a subscriber, yet  sorry Andy, Pete, Ian...) and see what this bench is all about. No tuits. Straight there. Three quid. Bench is first job on list. After workshop, of course Thanks in advance Ian, as this bench is...

    Mitre saw manual

Aren't we all  :D Hi Pip. Do you need the manual for a particular purpose? In my experience it's usually easier to ask the friendly, highly knowledgeable folk here on the forum the questions you need answering. After all, better to learn from one who has been there and solved the...

Veritas Plane Review - Part Two. Medium Shoulder Plane

Aaaaargh! I hate that! I find those when the kids have been taking a sneaky look at one of my knives or swords. They take it out of it's sheath and leave greasy fingerprints all over the blade! :x I can always tell which one by the size of print, too  I'm sure I can hear the distant...

    discovery H+L...

TK Agreed, totally. H+L is now a haven for Fishing and Look-At-How-Much-I-Have-Sold-My-Grotty-London-Squat-For programs. Maybe we should all start our own Internet-Based Workshop-Video site. I'm pretty sure some of the folks on this forum could do an excellent job of presenting...

Veritas Plane Review - Part Two. Medium Shoulder Plane

For years I have cleverly disguised this very trait, but alas it seems I have been rumbled! Ta muchly Gary <awaiting generous Veritas money-off voucher in post  >

Veritas Plane Review - Part Two. Medium Shoulder Plane

Great review once again, Alf. You should do this for a living! Witty, informative, unbiased, etc.etc. All the things that were said last time, really. 8) As for your views on aesthetics, I'm afraid I must disagree. I liked it as soon as I saw it. 8) It don't count for much as far as...

LOL :D I get this kind of response too, sometimes. TPTB, bless her, has been waiting for a jewellery box for about 2 years now and I've yet to buy the wood for it ! Hmmm, think I may put a post up on this for some  ideas..... Ta muchly Gary

Glad you got it all sorted, K/U! I know where to read when I buy a planer myself, now! Bound to be probs!! Lovely first door, too, that one! I know it's not 'the done thing', but I quite like pine... Especially the 'lumpy' stuff! Nice job. Ta muchly Gary

Veritas Plane Review - Part One. Block Planes (long)

Thanks for the great review Alf. That's certainly given me food for thought, as I am looking for an Apron or a Low Angle Block plane next. (just can't get by with only my Bailey alone anymore!!) All the info is there and I actually quite like the look of them. Performance-wise, though, it...

    How square?

I think you really need to fix the blade in some way, and not hold the body, otherwise it could become loose. Depends on how 'delicate' you are with a hammer, I guess. I'd be no use. It'd end up looking like scrollwork by the time I'd had a go at it! (Thats why I bought a brad gun  ) Ta...

Best way to finish pine furniture

Steve. The brand I normally use is Colron ( Ronseal brand, I think :? ). It's widely available so you should be able to get hold of it easily. The stain is, I think, is spirit based. Doesn't actually state on the tin but iit has the X Harmful warning on it. I must admit I've never had any...

    Finishing end grain

Very nice rookie. No shame in byuing legs if you haven't the means to make them. Mine are all square/tapered due to no lathe (and a tight fist!!! :D ). I like the delicacy of the piece as a whole and dont worry too much about the end grain finishing darker on the top. It's quite a long area so...
