    Boschmann ???

'Wabbit. Try a search on Ebay for power tools and somewhere in there you'll find some Boschmann tools. Theyre not BOSCH and are not linked with them by the looks of it. BUT they look like the standard Chiawan imports - not great quality but fairly functional. I say this because I've just bought...

How to join the corners? Quick advice please

For speed, I think the lap and mortice would possibly be quickest. Or lap the horizontals, then a dowel to go through these into the top of the vertical? Bit amateurish maybe compared to a mortice though  Gary EDIT: Sorry, just read your post properly and noticed 'dowels' not an option...

Patina Wood Finish - a few questions...

Well Aragorn and Philly, it looks like you guys are the 'pioneers of Patina' so we all must follow. I too had never heard of it until now, but it sounds good, and a bonus for us with 'ankle-biters' whereby the furniture needs a tough, resistant finish. It's on my next shopping list!! :wink...

    Finishing Oak

On the subject of hand scrapers, if you know of an engineering works, on somewhere that does sheet metal work, you may be able to get some off-cuts of spring steel which can be used for scrapers. Quite successfully too, I believe. I work with sheet metal myself and have access to the very stuff...

Hi Tom. What size stock is it, 30mm square or 30mm thick boards or....? Also what quantity do you have? 30mm square you could use for a nice arbor-seat framing, P/T some down to 3/4" for the seat, etc..Thats all that springs to mind, really. Sorry if it's not much help  but I know not...

Thanks Alf. Yeah, I know they're not as beautiful as the seasoned 'real deal' ones, or the L/N's or Veritas' for that matter but they seemed a good price and I may be able to get them cheaper than that if I use the company account at work too!! If only I could get them to get an account with...

    recommend me a bandsaw

Noely, Martin & MP. Ta muchly for all your help/comments. As Chris said, I guess I have to evaluate what my requirements are from a bandsaw and I suppose the deciding factors are price/value for money; hobby/medium-ish (is this a real word?! :? ) usage; size for workshop. But then...
