    Difficulty with proportions

Yes that too, we'll see how they look once the cloud lift centre pieces are wider (higher) If only I could use SketchUp, but then again it's so much fun making I don't really mind the too and froing on the design, especially as it not for a living , just for the passion.

    Difficulty with proportions

Now I'm not really one for full scale drawings nor making mockups with cheap wood, (ala Philly and his nice Maloofian Chair), but this does mean every now and again I make something , stand back and say hmm not as I imagined. I'm making an Arts n Crafts bed for my youngest, mahogany with...

Yes I seem to at a stage when lots of visible progress came at once. I had a new microplane rasp set for my birthday and will round the legs with that (I'm very impressed by the way before I tried Surforms and hand cut rasps - but the microplane is my favourite so far - and not too expensive)...

The joints are a nightmare in theory it just best to suck your teeth an go for it with a handsaw. Lucky I have a master furniture maker at hand to guide me, albeit I ask him stuff occasionally on this project and his eyebrows raise and says ik weet het niet - I do not know! But it's wonderfully...

    Woodrat on Ebay

I too have heard rumours from the Woodrat bunker, I thought a woodrat that cut both tails and pins at the same time was mentioned - or did I dream that. Still happy ratting

    Safety Glasses

I had someone who worked for me got safety specs from an optician but declined to have the side guards as they did not look cool. He got a splinter of wood in one eye partially blinding him! Whatever you go for, go for wrap arounds, goggles or side guards! I use the UVEX goggles from Axminster...

I too am impressed by your ouput - are you envisioning a career change to become the Celtic Norm of the UK? My one main project per year is hard to increase but you too have kids a job etc . How does he find the time - maybe a TARDIS? Only jealous of course  Da Iawn

    axminster pocket hole jig

I ummed and aarghed about these for a while, I always wanted to try one, but was a bit put off by the cost, especially as I only do these things occasionally. I have a lamello biscuit jointer but this seems quieter and just as easy - and that still has lots of other uses in the workshop So when...

    Nice dovetail marker

I also use a woodjoy but a slightly different one. http://www.woodjoytools.com/dvtlsq.html It allows you to flip it so avoid the lack of support at the edge of the board. I'm delighted with it, a prize addition to my tool cabinet

    best height for a woodrat

I made a tool shelf from the mounting wood I glues 2 2x6" together to mount the said RAT. I then made a lot of holes in the wood lfet and right of the router at the back, to hold the spare knobs, allen keys clamps, bits etc etc All very handy and very easy.
