    At last a gloat

I have one of these and with practice it turned out to be a very useful device. You need to always work in the same direction ( always cut away from the ratchet system) and check before running a cut for the second time (deepening it) that you have good alignment. I find that my T9 works...

    Difficulty with proportions

From memory there will be 8 in this, I have a pillar drill with a large table so drilling at 90 won't be the issue for me, but just drilling in the right place! Ah for a CNC miling machine

    Difficulty with proportions

Well I rebuilt the bed with larger central rails - Much better - thanks everyone for guidance etc. :) (What is interesting in this photo is all the pieces look different colours, I spent a little time using different strengths of button shellac to even that out. It must be a camera effect as...

Minimum space for using a tablesaw....

Plan ahead is the way forward I made all my work tops and top of all (well not all but most) machines and the top of the table saw the same height as my workbench, then you can run wood across the workbench, for example, to feed it into the table saw, and the wood rests on the table for the...

    Problem with Woodrat Bits

Another tip from Mike Humphrey I've just remebered is to hop the router over the wood, so only cut half way from both sides, it will be easier on the bit if you do this, and also avoids any breakout at the bit never exits the wood. this may help Philly :?:

    Problem with Woodrat Bits

I use mine on maple, except the smallest ones (which are sold in pairs as they break) and all seems fine. Henry recommends only using the smallest on the softest of hardwoods. Mike Humphrey recommended me not to buy the small bits from Henry as even in softwood they break. Philly which bits...

    Brass/Gold powder

Duiker My local art supply shop in Alkmaar has Brass powder (and gold and silver) I just mixed this with normal epoxy resin (2 component glue). It was a bit expensive though 20 € a small bottle I seem to remember. Why not try an Art shop near you? Or let me know if you want the address etc in...

    First project finally completed

Since you asked for some +ve feedback, I would have made the drawers shorter and the cupboards higher (proportions are very hard to get right - see my latest projects where I'm running into proportion problems - solved now I think photos on the way)...

Bandsaw dust extraction - Advice please

I have a dust port below the blade and one at the lower part of the bottom wheel cabinet. Both are connected to the same vac via a Y piece. Also I have a piece of stiff but flexible plastic with a slot cut in it, through which the blade runs (below the table) this deflects most of the dust that...

Got my Lee Nielson scraper plane

Well done, I have the cabinet makers scraper plane from LN and I must admit I use it more and more. You need to hone your burr making skills (if you excuse the pun) For my scaper cards I use the super vertias device but the scraper blade it too thick for that. So I do it by hand with a clifton...

    Heightening saw fence

Just remove the saw guard but leave the splitter in place, but be careful!

    Heightening saw fence

If you look carefully you can see my fence: I made a 3 sided cover in chip board to go fully over the fence, it can be pulled back and locked with butterfly nuts (bolts in the top slot of the fence), so to create clearance after the blade when ripping (very useful saves me changing to the...
