That'll teach me to read the question properly!

    Transistor problem

I'm trying to picture your circuit in my head and I'm confused on the design. Why do you have the Transistor C and E across the relay? Normal design convention would have the relay between +Vsupply and the collector, with a back EMF freewheeling diode across the relay. It could be this that has...

Reinforcing Saw Bench Carcass (top face)

Right, I only want to build this thing once so I'll ask the question here. I'm putting together a saw bench for an SCMS which is also going to provide a lot of storage underneath, and behind the fence there will be drawer units. I'm sure at times it will get abused as a general work surface as...

    Small CNC Router Build

Watching this with interest - I use a 3d printer but I've not dabbled in milling yet!

    Evaporust

Deox-C is great too. Give them a good scrub and a lot of that dark colouring will go.

    Finishing Tamped Concrete

At the same time as sorting out your flooring consider what you want to do for security - if you want to put in some sort of floor anchor for the front door then do this before any finishing steps!

Who doesn't get a mobile signal at home ?

Most modern mobiles can make calls and send/receive messages over wifi so you should be ok unless on old kit.

Split from TOPIC: VIRUS WARNING/SCAM? ON MAC

All platforms are vulnerable, it's just what you focus on that is the question. Very few businesses run Mac as their primary computing system, so even when you look at the fact that Apple are more popular domestically than they once were, they are still a serious minority.

    Beginner Tools

Sideways has given you a good list. The only thing I would add to start with is a reasonable drill of some description. Early projects can be making a drill guide for doing vertical holes, and making a marking gauge. You'll practice the techniques you need to and get something useful at the...

    Shooting board help

You say you are new to woodwork so let me check the basics, apologies if this is teaching you to suck eggs. - I can see a square in your picture so I assume you've checked all of that. - The shaving you have is a nice continuous piece - is it full width? - If both of those are ok then I think...

Advise on breaking down rough sawn timber

Your options probably boil down to the list below - I realise you've said some of them aren't ideal for you, but in some instances you might want to save further to increase budget if that's the restricting factor. 1) Bandsaw with a fence. Extremely easy to use, will handle 3" happily, and can...

How to remove twist on a planer?

Yes, tables and blades are set up perfectly. It's definitely a knack that I'm lacking at the moment! Yes, using the fence.

How to remove twist on a planer?

I love my technology, machinery, engineering. Love it. On this occasion though my number one choice without doubt has been a nice sharp No5 and No4 hand plane. I'll explain... I'm building a saw station for my new mitre saw, and I'm building it to last. 2x4s for the framework, and partly as...

    Decent quality shelf brackets?

They do like nice. I don't usually like wooden brackets unless it's going for a rustic look as I find them quite "traditional", but I do like the idea of contrasting woods.... (Plus who doesn't like ABW?!)

    Decent quality shelf brackets?

I'm looking to put some simple shelves up in one room (think converted attic and you have it). I like a mix of wood and modern styling, so will be straight american white oak planks with a brushed metal effect bracket (ideally a pelican style one). My question is - where/who would you recommend...

    Dewalt 1251 RAS.

Roving knives are easy to make if some kind soul will trace the outline of an existing knife and send it to you.

    Dewalt 1251 RAS.

Yes there are locks for those angles. On the vertical pillar you will see two orange handles where the arm joins. One is a friction lock for holding the arm at any angle, the other is a tooth lock that will lock at 45 and 90 degrees.

    Hardwood built in wardrobe?

So this is me thinking ahead of time as I'm a good few months away from doing it. I have just moved into a new place and one of the jobs I will be doing when refitting the bedrooms is putting in a built in wardrobe. I am planning to be here for a long time so I want to do the job right, but I...
