    Shinto Rasps

Bought one about 4 years ago for circa £15 in the UK. Rarely used but when I do, it always impresses. Great concept! Never clogged it up and it lives with other things in my cutting drawer. Like the idea of a scabbard!

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Richard G - do not let your neighbour's wife, the one with the MA in Fine Arts see this as the juxtaposition of it will have her wanting me to produce a less-edgy version for installation on the south terrace (patio - to you and me!) for her Spring/Summer exhibition! ps - I can see my land from...

    Routers

Phil - I have a GOF ACE 1300 that you may have for spares. Send me a PM with your address and I'll pop it in the post at my cost. (I went to Primary School in Kernow)!

    Hammer A3-31 Extraction

Thank you. Found a reducing sleeve in my local plumber's merchants that has done the trick nicely. Shame the people at Felder in MK didn't have the foresight to try and sell me their reducer - one collects the machine fully wrapped, so determining the outlet port size was not possible.

    Hammer A3-31 Extraction

My new P/T is up and running but the extractror port is male 120mm diameter and that obviously is not a neat fit to 4" (100mm) corrugated hose. Has anybody devised an elegant solution for this?

    Sold Two Planer/Thicknessers

I have for sale a Record(Lurem)300 purchased in 2005. It works well and comes with some re-sharpened spare blades. Asking £300 ono collected. I tend to use it just for thicknessing but have the fence for planer operations. I also have for sale a 1996 Elektra Beckum 260. I only use it as a...

    New Planer Thicknesser

Ollie - can you recall the height of the P/T on the pallet and maybe length and width? MK is about 1h45 from mine, so I could if the weather was decent, take a trailer to make unloading at my end easier. I have pallet tines on my loader.

    New Planer Thicknesser

Russell quoted me £380 or £400 for delivery and I told him I'd collect - I'm sure it will fit in my pick-up on a Euro pallet but will need to check that, else can borrow a van. I did spec the DRO as I'd used one a couple of years ago and loved the repeatability and accuracy. I did a fair...

    New Planer Thicknesser

I ordered a Hammer A3-31 from Russell way back in October, I'm led to believe it will be with me later this month, with the spiral cutter it came in at £4100-ish.

    16 Amp supply for bandsaw

As I type this, I have Gary the Spark (Part P) in the workshop installing 20A supplies for a new P/T and one for my 16A extractor, which as a very naughty boy, I've been running out of a 13A socket. He has taken the existing 50A supply into the building which has it's own ring, protected by a...

Hand Plane setup, sharpening & how to plane properly - in person course

Taken this evening. I'm pretty well self-taught when it comes to sharpening and tuning - this is a second hand QuangSheng 62 low angle jack plane that I recently acquired. It originally came from Workshop Heaven and I am led to believe that their QA is high. I cleaned it, lubed it...

What joint to use on my first cabinet?

If you need more than 2 ratchet straps, I would recommend a "Spanish windlass" - ie, a length of (in my case, baler-twine) tied loosely around the objects requiring the pressure and using a length of offcut, wind the twine tight. When at the desired pressure - secure the end of the winding...

The galvanised steel bands binding the sides together don't shout quality to me.

Question for Scheppach Basa 3 users

I'm Scottish - I just hapen to live in England-shire. W O Bentley, designed all of his cars in the early 19th Century in millimetres. Cutting straight with a new blade is more a function of fence alignment. It needs to be aligned to what the blade cuts rather than parallel to the table...

Question for Scheppach Basa 3 users

For obvious reasons, now that it is all setup, I am relectant to take it all apart to determine exactly what I did. I've just been out and looked at it and recall removing the entire unit (the top guide mounting bit) from the aluminium extrusion and adjusting it and refitting. As for the power...
