It may not be much but.....

Hi Wulf, thanks for the enquiry... Yup - I got an electric grinding wheel and bought an adjustable rest from Axminster - its all fitted together but Ive not yet got round to sharpening...mainly due to having been making: 2 shelving units / one fitted wardrobe / one changing table - all for MMD...

    Glue brushes, spreaders etc.

Ive recently bought a pack of 12 brushes from Aminster for £2.95 - therefor 25p each. Theyre not stiff bristles but work well enough and wash out (PVA) well. Here they are: http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp? ... 47&recno=6 I note that Axminster are currently out of stock though... MMD

    Trend Clamp Guide system

Ive just bought the 24" Pro Guide Clamp from Axminster and cut and roted a load of contiboard over the weekend for shelving in side a wardrobe and it worked really well every time. Is it possible youve ended up with a "Friday afternoon" one which needs to be returned?. MMD

    Real woodworking...?

Ive been directed by the DDO (Director of Domestic Operations - aka Mrs MMD) to prepare for MMD Juniors arrival by building fitted cupbards in the bedroom. So I drew up a plan which has consisted of a front frame (made of 34mm sq PAR battens and T+G boards.... made it up ensuring battens cut...

    Screwfix ??

Looks like Screwfix problems are persisting - I tried to order some items this evening and the website was moving really slowly (and I have Broadband). Eventually got a note saying due to large amount of traffic they couldnt deal with my order. Looks like I'll have to stop off at one of the DIY...

    Any views om Myford ML8...?

Hi Graham, We had a black 58 Traveller (Travis) with red leather interior for a couple of years which went in 2001 to finance a '68 Maroon convertible with beige hood(Auntie Hilda). Unfortunately we had to sell the convertible back in the summer as it was no longer practical to keep - not...

    Any views om Myford ML8...?

Hi Graham, welcome to the forum and many thanks for your thoughts. I think Im coming round to the idea of a Record CL3 (eventually when Ive saved up!), as you say the ML8 is a little elderly now and if there are some "niggly" bits with lack o precision probably best with something contemporary...

    Any views om Myford ML8...?

Hi Blurk, thanks for that. I had stumbled across this very useful site when "Googling" for info on the ML8. Good to see there is still spares availability too. The ML8 seems to be well thought of generally and well used by hobbyists for many years but Im still unclear how it compares alongside...

    Any views om Myford ML8...?

Still being flushed with success from my first foray into turning (and having a locking nut on my little Rexon lathe broken ) I'm going to have a look at a 2nd hand Myford ML8 later this week - does anyone have any views / comments regarding the ML8 lathe? I'd be really grateful for any...

...Im pleased with it!. I managed to get down the shed today - had my first real try at woodturning . I turned a handle for one of the vices on my workbench, complete with removable bulbous bit at one end so it'll fit on OK. And it fitted - and the vice works - yipppeee!!! Regards, MMD ps...

    How many candles are burning?

Aged 47 (and expecting second child in December). Ive got a sneaking fancy that I'll need to carryon working till 65 to keep the kiddies in the style they'll have become accustomed to!. Never had much time for WW as a hobby - its tended to be joinery jobs which had to be done on the house (stud...

    Ebay URGENT advice needed

Does anyone else play "Fantasy Ebay"...? What you do is look at the newly listed tools that no-one has yet bid on, select those tools that you'd dearly love to own - like the Norris smoother, the bright shiny pair of Disston saws, the complkete Record multiplane shining and oiled in its orginal...

    Cheap 12" Quick Clamps

I happened to be in Robert Dyas (Hardware chain) today and saw they had a large number of half price "Quick type" Clamps. They have a 12" capacity and were £4.99 for 2, not the best in the world but seem to be OK for the money. I got two pair. They can be used as spreaders too. They are bit...
