    Tenoning jig for table saw

That`s a fib. You can`t use it with the crown guard in place.

    At last a gloat

I`ve found a photo of the first project I made with my router crafter 20 years ago. I can only scan in via a document scanner so poor quality photo. This is a standard lamp turned on the lathe in mahogany, then the roping was done on the router lathe.

    Thanks Popular Woodworking!

Philly, yes thats the table. I`m waiting for my order of American Cherry from SLH for my long case clock project, I`ll order some more and use whats left over for that table. Shaping those curved legs should be interesting.

    Thanks Popular Woodworking!

I buy american woodworking mags myself. My local newsagent has just started stocking Fine Woodworking again after about a year of not having it. I also buy American Woodworker which is another mag I like. Always a good read, so much better than some of the british mags which on the most part...

    Forum users' Planers & Thicknessers

I`ve owned the Electra Beckum HC 250 for ten years now and I think it`s a superb planer. I bought mine for £420 then, money well spent. Had no trouble with it all those years. I also own a Coronet Soveriegn 4 1/2" planer ( photo ) with overhead thicknessing attachment. I purchased this machine...

    Elm for garden furniture?

Elm is a good choice for garden funiture. It has a natural resistance to rot, but a couple of coats of a stained Cuprinol preserver won`t go amiss.

Is this the Golden Age of woodworking?

Welcome aboard evergreen. I have four books by Charles H Hayward which I`ve owned for twenty years. They are -: "Cabinet Making For Beginners", "Antique Furniture Repairs", "Woodwork Joints" and "Practical Veneering". They are not very big books but they are crammed full of knowledge. I learnt a...

So Many choices, which one to buy?

Woodbuther1, La Truciolara, The workshop is so clean because I took the photos after I had finished insulating my small 6 x 4 foot garden shed, and installed the lathe, so I had`nt done any woodturning in there yet. The shed used to be my workshop years ago, did`t have any machines, every thing...

I`m Woodworker Of The Year 2005

Thanks for all the lovely comments. To answer some of your questions, I don`t play mandolin but I did learn some chords to strum and I`m pleased to say the mando sounds good. I personally play the classical guitar ( which I built myself, of course, :D ) and I find the mandolin fingerboard too...

Got my Lee Nielson scraper plane

Well I`ve received my Lee Nielson scraper plane to add to my other recently aquired LN smoother. Another fine tool as well. Aparently this tool works very well with no burr on the cutter. I was very surprised about this when I read the instructions, but it does work. I had to play about with the...

Just recieved a letter Thursday morning informing me that I`m a winner in the Woodworker Of the Year 2005 contest in the Autumn Special edition (2005) of Practical Woodworking. Mortices and tenons for hexagonal table

Here you are Edmond. Steve Maskery is correct with the shape of the legs. This table is mortice and tenon joinery and was made 1994. The legs were shaped first then turned. Sorry about the quality of the photo, I don`t have a proper scanner, so this was scanned with my document scanner instead.

So Many choices, which one to buy?

Here`s a photo of my CL2 that I have had for ten years now. Excellent machine, no regrets ever buying it. You can also upgrade this machine to variable speed at a later date as I have. The photo shows the fitting of my new spindle copying attachment I bought earlier this year.

    Grinding jigs

Here`s a home made jig I use to set the ( Aminster grinder rest ) on my dry grindstone. Sorry about the poor photo. If you need better photos, can do. A piece of bicycle spoke riveted to the front of the tool acts as the fulcrum point and my tool angles are marked on the tool and locked off with...

    2005

Martin, the tool is what Alf said, a ( home made ) binding router. Alf, anything that is inside the outer binding is called perfelling. Perfelling could be Abelone shell, herring bone inlay strip etc. I`ve made some improvements to the tool since the photos, in respect that I now have micro...
