    looking for Clifton frog's pics

The new graphite version with the new blade. The same as the one being passed around, which is why I'm keen to get some impressions, although the deal is done now so there is no going back! I like the green too, but I'm more concerned with the quality of fit and finish, and that it works well...

    looking for Clifton frog's pics

That looks like my #4 too. Again similar to a 1910 US Stanley I have and the Record SS. I'm interested in this as I have just ordered a new #51/2 Clifton and hope that its as good as my #4. I've been accused of being a fussy sod, obsessive, some less kindly folk have added. I personally...

New Graphite Clifton 5 1/2 Passaround

Must say I'm a fan of the 2-piece cap iron. The SS Record plane I have (pictured) that was rescued from certain death is one of my favorites (no, the table isn't very flat is it!). I think the cap iron function is probably underestimated. I made a 3 mm thick stainless steel cap iron, not a...

New Graphite Clifton 5 1/2 Passaround

Interesting videos Peter, its fascinating to see how many processes are involved in making a plane and the trouble that is taken to ensure the castings are stable etc Cheers Richard .

    Best dovetail saw

I'm sure they are good, and plentiful too in UK. In these here parts, not so much. Its a matter of buying on e-bay and posting at great cost. Last time I did that I ended up with lemon of a block plane from the US quite different to the one pictured. So, lesson learned, I either get things...

    what are CLIFTON doing.....

Just came across this thread. I'm keen to buy a Clifton 51/2 and already own a couple of their planes. I disagree somewhat with the comment here though. When I make something, I think I do my best to make it as precisely as I can. I rarely succeed in doing a job as well as I'd like so maybe...

Anyone bought tools from abroad ?

Yep, I buy stuff from England. Thomas Flinn, Clico tooling, Ashley Iles and others. :D Just about to buy some more! You are lucky to have such good stuff made locally!

    Best dovetail saw

Hi Wellywood thats good to hear. I'll go with the Pax 1776 as well - probably go with the pear handled version discussed above. BTW, like the name. Palmywood doesn't quite work! Cheers Richard

    Best dovetail saw

Thanks for your replies and advice. A 15 tpi rip may be the best all-round saw then. I'm interested in Peters pear-handle Pax 1776 ones, so I'll stay tuned for the 15 tpi version. Lovely dovetail pictures by the way...wish I was that neat! I need to do some practice obviously. Thanks Richard

    Best dovetail saw

OK thanks. Couldn't see that on his web site but will have a better look. Does yours have the pear handle (instead of the maple one that Thomas Flinn are currently offering on their web site)? If so, what do you think of it? Cheers Richard

    Best dovetail saw

Hi...quick question. You mention that this is a 15 tpi dovetail saw. I've been wondering what tpi to get and the review you mention states thet the Pax 1776 has 20 tpi. I gather sharpening 20 tpi is more of a mission but it gives a smoother cut. Can anyone please corect these assumptions...
