Dewalt DW1251 Radial Arm Saw – Opinions & Alternatives

Thanks Rick. I haven't been watching them for long (by which I mean, about 3 days!). I don't suppose you can let me know rough guide prices based on the condition? I'm not after something like Parker's guide!!

Dewalt DW1251 Radial Arm Saw – Opinions & Alternatives

Has anyone used a Dewalt DW1251 - how are they? Are there better used radial arm saws on a budget? I just missed one in the sale section the other day, but there seem to be a few about: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302325442594

    English Workbench build

Sorry to unearth this, but my problem is a bit similar to the OP ... so rather than start another thread I thought I'd continue here, and also ask him how it went?! I've got a couple of projects on hold for various reasons, so I'm also looking at the same English Workbench plan as my current...

That sounds like a top recommendation, which one did you go for, had a quick look and there are loads!

Affordable Quality Alternative To The Festool Plunge Saw

Well that was confusing. Mod moved my post and I couldn't find it. Anyway it seems that the reason I couldn't find much info was that I was searching for the term "track saw" instead of "plunge saw" - oh well! Noob error! Just looked at the Titan version at Screwfix and that looks OK, although...

Why are my squares not square?!

These things are available for less than 6 quid on amazon. Some of the reviews are terrible. I even wonder if they're actually made by Starrett as it's quite a departure from their usual price point! Edit: Just checked and these do appear on Starrett's web site: K53-14-N

Affordable Quality Alternative To The Festool Plunge Saw

Who's bought a cheap track saw? What make was it and was it any good? Wondering if the cheap ones are sufficient for long, accurate cuts on sheet materials. Another one I was looking at was the Kreg Rip-Cut. Looks a bit cheap as a few people on Amazon have reported the numbers "rubbing off"...

Info on making doors and windows

I know a lot of hobbyist woodworkers make side tables and jewellery boxes, but I need a door and consider it a challenge as good as any other, and probably just as interesting. I'm also looking forward to seeing the wife's face when she gets a door for her birthday.

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea, I'll have to look for dumpster diving opportunities.

Info on making doors and windows

Thanks PAC1. Crikey you have to be careful with old books these days. The first version of this I found on amazon was (on research) a scanned copy of the text, converted using OCR (optical character recognition) and without any illustrations. I presume that old works, once out of copyright, are...

Info on making doors and windows

I want to learn to make doors, and maybe windows for my Victorian house. The current doors are a warped mess of old letter box and cat flap infills. I've bought a couple of books on amazon on the subject and while they're both nicely put together, they both ended up being more about design...

    Workshop Wall Advice

Thank you for all the excellent suggestions. I bought 17 sheets of 11mm OSB3, which I managed to get for £11.30/sheet inc. VAT and delivered next day for £15 – so around £210 total. It really pays to shop around. Can't say I really like the look of it, but it will encourage me to build storage...

    Workshop Wall Advice

18mm MDF seems to be cheaper than OSB. I'm guessing that MDF is the least moisture resistant of MDF, OSB and exterior ply?

    Workshop Wall Advice

My workshop is a 7m x 4m timber framed building. It's recently been upgraded with new exterior horizontal cladding, offset with an air gap of 20mm to vapor barrier. The frame is insulated within the stud word by 50mm celotex. I'm now at the point of deciding what to use to clad the interior...
