Combi boiler - removing and capping radiators?

Not true, Sunnybob. You are overreacting, as usual. Don't most, if not all, boilers have a built in thermostat which will protect it if all of the thermostatic valves are closed.

    Nearly OUCH!

A lot has been said about table saw kickback dangers but I haven't seen any on a drum sander. I was sanding an acoustic guitar back at about 200mm wide x 3mm thick. The abrasive paper feed belt had seen better days so, when it tore a bit, I stuck on some shiny silver duct tap. My bit of wood...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I am familiar with flower presses but how do you flatten a bird?

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Neither do I. Should have said "What wood did you use? Silver Birch?" The preview said what it was supposed to be but the post got messed up somewhere.

    Reducing the size of dowels

In the U.K., 5/8 down to 3/8 means a reduction of 2/8 or 1/4. Is the Cyprus counting system different? #-o

    Slate oil

When I installed a slate hearth many years ago, it was recommended that I apply a coat or two of boiled linseed oil. I did and it still looks good.

Frying pans ..........an odd request ...

This is not a recommendation but a warning. I bought two "Green Pans" https://www.greenpan.co.uk/products/fry ... frying-pan in a sale which had a superbly non stick surface when new but after a few uses they were definitely not non stick. Also, the handles were hollow with a vent hole and using...

This sounds like the way to go. Thanks for all your suggestions.

    Painting plasterboard.

Lazy me assumed I could just stick some tape over the joint and paint it.

    Painting plasterboard.

The ceiling of my workshop/double garage is bare plasterboard. I want to paint it white to improve light reflection. What tape is best to use for the plasterboard joints?

    Tablesaw safety

I had a similar experience. I was in the front passenger seat and at 51 years ago, long before compulsory seat belts. The inexperienced driver was going far to fast and when he hit the brakes hard, I went through the windscreen, flew through the air and landed in a hedge on the opposite side of...

    Working with Sapele..

Can't help with why you don't have a straight edge but can help otherwise. I have a drum sander which can finish the strips accurately to whatever thickness you want. I live about 15 miles outside Cardiff but am at work in Splott every week day.

    Tyzack Centenary Saw

Apologies, I was wrong. I didn't notice that was the cost of a dozen. I did think it was a rather expensive saw for the time. What is the date of the catalogue?

    Tyzack Centenary Saw

The saw did not not cost 8/8. It cost 104/- (shillings) or £5 and 4 shillings. £5.20 in new money.

Any saw sharpeners in Devon UK?

They sharpened a 14"backsaw and a 20" ripsaw for me about a month ago. Quick turnaround and they did a good job.
