    [Beginner] Chamfering dog holes

Read the OP's post. Beech top. MDF would be easier to work, why the exclamation? Hardly shocking.

Rawhide mallet. What would they have been used for.

So you want me to use a lump hammer!? I don't fancy swinging one of those all day or carrying more tools than needed 🙄. Just to clarify, have you done this as a job or are you a keyboard warrior? Thing is, if you can actually use a hammer you don't to miss! Did you actually see the handle...

Rawhide mallet. What would they have been used for.

Get over yourself and be angry faced about something worthwhile! Some are designed for it. Would you have me destroy a wooden mallet on these? 🙄 Irwin Marples Soft Grip Chisel Set | Toolstation Define the issue of using a claw hammer on these? Some people even use lump hammers on wooden...

    Plane iron identification

Danny, that's a new one. I've heard of the Lewin Multi Plane but not Letwin, do you have an example?

Rawhide mallet. What would they have been used for.

Thanks for the heads up on the Estwing, Tony. Looks nice. At work the majority of my chisels are plastic handles or metal capped so I use a claw hammer on them. The handle length looks like a claw hammer, might need to give one a try.

Funny how a tool designed to do the works so well! Kudos on the find, lovely chisel.

Just use a chisel, carefully riding the bevel. You'll learn about grain direction quickly. If you want a clinical look use a roundover cutter in a small router.

Full disclosure, not my website. Very pleased that someone did it. This is my personal woodworking website Face Edge Woodworking

    Plane iron identification

The bench planes aren't as nice as a Stanley or Record from the same period. However I would think the cutting iron would be fine.

    Simple Stools

These were an excuse to use up some scraps and to try out round tenons. It was enjoyable to use a rounder as I have few old ones that belonged to my Granddad and Great Granddad who were Wheelwrights. I was also guided by Jack Hill's book on Country Chairs and Bob Flexner's article on soap...

    Seaton Chest Style Chisels

Very interesting. I don't need them but I would be very interested to try one. Let me know if you want to sell one!

New Toy - Clifton no 4

The reason I mention it is I've seen a couple get loose, no issue with a one piece design. There were some harsh reviews of Clifton back in the day. Clifton have been on a journey. I would be delighted to purchase a shoulder plane for at home, I just can't justify it at this moment.

New Toy - Clifton no 4

Also, I notice that the lateral adjustment lever looks like a one piece design. The lever on LN's is a brass tab screwed into the lever (please correct me). Never seemed a particularly clever way to make it.

New Toy - Clifton no 4

Would have no idea on sales figures but I'm sure they are doing well in the UK. I think the current crop are very nicely done. It would be nice to see a router plane added, but if they're super busy I understand why they don't. I think the very last step to get them A1 for me would be getting...

New Toy - Clifton no 4

I applaud the current owners for improving the quality. The grey is a nicer look, a one piece cap iron and the Y lever is now thicker. Enjoy it!
