Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

Whilst you might say that our govt is just a crap. Some of which may be true in the sense that it has and does authorise illegal (under international law) detention and extradition etc for it's citizens (and others) to be sent to countries where they will obviously be tortured at secret 'black...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

For me I've just decided its thw one thing I can do to help the oppressed/abused. I usually (when making a substantial purchase where I think it might make a difference with so called ethical manufacturers) email and ask where x, y or z was manufactured - for example with Rapha cycling stuff -...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

Yes... indeed, that's what I'm hoping to move forward to. Hence why I'd narrowed my search down to Metabo (they share the same platform with the likes of Festool) and Bosch who share their battery platform with another range of brands (I forget the names). Reason why i was also convinced about...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

Looks like the consensus is appearing as Bosch. Thanks all, I'll get looking at some deals for it. @Sideways do you have a link or somewhere I can read more into it as I'd read somewhere online about how they were distinctly owned by different companies. Appreciate the info...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

Sideways... I wasn't trying to tar all chinese factories with the same brush. How anyone decides to spend their money is up to them. I'm pereonally preferring to stay away as much as I can from chinese products until the human rights record starts changing. Mihht not change anything but I'm just...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

Hi all and thanks for your insight in advance. I heard of the Metabo name on here and previously had assumed Milwaukee to be the best. Recently I came into a well used Milwaukee impact driver for cheap and it's been a revelation for me. Though, definitely on its last legs. So in my continuing...

    Hire a Micro Digger?

Oh... btw. Not sure if it helps (and hopefully won't irritate any tree huggers). But when we moved in to the property there were two massive conifers at the end of the garden. Unkempt isn't the word but they'd just been left to their wn devices and taking up at least 4m by 5m footprint of...

    Hire a Micro Digger?

Thanks very much for asking this question @seanf as I'd too been thinking about it for the near future (tight alleyway to back garden which I plan on building a solid base and brick shed). Interested to see how you finally decide then get on. FWIW, unless I can find a man with a micro digger...

    Hand Tools from Japan

Actually - I just did a search for Ebay Japan and found it - ignore my question of Buyee beinf ebay. I wonder how they both relate to each other and if Buyee is specific to the US market...

    Hand Tools from Japan

Really interesting you buying things from Japan and making it look so easy David. Lol... It makes me anxious just doing the searching! Out of interest, is Buyee actually the Japan version of Ebay and would you consider buying power tools from there. I'm going to assume that things like Makita...

    History of Whetstone Use

Didn't know stones were such a complex thing and had always thought of my dads stone (still lying about somewhere in his garage or somewhere I'm sure) as a bit of an older days gimmick. But now I want one as I've always just sharpened the kitchen knives with the quick-sharpener thingy which has...

    Wanted Cheap but functional/quality router

Very very helpful thanks @housemaintenance88 I actually bought the Makita (the one comparable to the Katsu) at about £46 from Isaac Lord. Spoke to them over the phone and seems to come with a few standard bits. So when it arrives I'll check what else I need - along with terminology of what...

    Queen Elizabeth has passed away.

Anyway. Here's CJ Werleman explaining something about the Liecester violence that most British media don't like reporting. So please may I ask anyone citing the Liecester situation as, 'they're always at it against each other' please do stop it...

    Queen Elizabeth has passed away.

Indeed, good point and sorry (on my behalf). I keep meaning to not visit this thread. Will try harder ;-)

    Queen Elizabeth has passed away.

I think maybe this belongs here (with all due respect) and possibly this (can't find it, professor from Harvard or the likes explaining how history in the West has always been skewed with lots and lots of lies). Regards the Liecester situation. It's not something that 'just' happened. Hindutva...

Is it worth trying to sharpen my Irwin handsaws?

I think that's a no then (as said before). Is the Bahco classed as a 'throwaway' type or do I go for a Silky or the likes. Yes, my teeth might have appeared blunt from sap etc (will use the olive oip trick too).

Is it worth trying to sharpen my Irwin handsaws?

https://www.axminstertools.com/vallorbe-precision-swiss-saw-file-extra-slim-100mm-4-951038 Thanks for the replies... So something like this (but without the China human rights abuses) as above link. Will try and post a pic in the morning of all three of the saws. Happy to buy a better saw...

Is it worth trying to sharpen my Irwin handsaws?

I don't have the tools for saw sharpening but they're both new enough that there's no mechanical slack felt yet. I think I knackered em when cutting through a tree stump or two. Try to cut down on landfill so wondered if it's worth it learning how to sharpen these... Or do I need to invest in a...

The Rolls Royce of Jigsaws? Mafell P1cc

Been doing some cutting so may aswell pop a little update. Especially since seeing the 'safety' thread. You'd think German engineering (not usually a fan, though I have had a Miele washer for 12 years and that was bought during a 10 year stint with the same Miele vacuum. Sorry, went a bit off...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I think I finally get more of an understanding of what 'wood-turning' actually is after seeing the bowls :) Anyway, mine isn't a breakthrough of a 'thing'. But managed to figure out how to store lots of 'compiled' timber. Still need to figure out a way of making it safe. There's 6ft peices...
