mitre saw..the hunt continues.... Bosch GCM 8 SJL..?

The 8" Hitachi is well within your budget, under £220 at FFX. If it's as good as the 12" then I doubt you'd be disappointed, but no laser it seems. Might have the 3 year warranty that Hitachi are giving now, worth checking out anyway. Model is C8FSE. I have no idea how it compares to a Makita...

Not bad for a non sea faring nation. ;) Bit of a shanty.

My father in law is in a few bands, one of them is a funny one called "Tex Braithwaite and the Biryani Brothers", which I enjoy watching. So when the Wife told me we're going to one of his concerts I thought, goodo. Babysitter booked, her indoors is driving, this is all going to plan...

    Wonky wall conundrum

Ha ha, I know your pain. Half the house (well, a third) dates back 500 years and running in there if you are over 5'8" will result in death from head trauma. The other part is building regs compliant new build. I spend half my time trying to make the new build look less so and the other half...

    What is this for?

I've emailed Silverline to see if they can make a clone of it that breaks as you remove it from the packaging. The race is on.

    Recommend me a mig welder

Yes, some devious people out there. They are really helpful on that other forum for metalworking. I was asking questions on there and within days I had one of the members pop by my workshop for a chat about what I wanted to do, he brought over his mig and we had a play with it and that's what...

    Recommend me a mig welder

Oh you meant my second hand purchase. I wasn't worried. The guy I bought it from had it delivered, planned to use it and never even put a plug on it. It had sat in his living room becoming part of the furniture for about 12 months before his wife made him sell it. Not exactly second hand but you...

    Recommend me a mig welder

Who's suggesting you buy anything second hand? In answer to your question, if you get the power right it should be fine, I burn through all sorts of things though.

Struggle as in burn through it?

    Recommend me a mig welder

To recap, the link I posted is the one that will be recommended from the link above as they are the main sponsor of the forum, and the first one on the page linked is the MIG that n0legs recommended - bingo. That forum is where I asked for help by the way when I was starting out - which you're...

    Recommend me a mig welder

I bought a Portamig second hand, drove a long way to get it as they're supposedly good - I knew nothing about any of it. Also worth looking at are Oxford? Could be wrong. I think the link below might help you find something unless others know of anything better...

I you were going to buy a router ...

    Does it come with a 1/4" collet, damn good question. I don't think so, think it's a 12mm and a 1/2" only.

    Leggy holder thing

I follow a few metalworker type people on Youtube and one of them "Giaco Whatever" made a holder thing that I'm not sure he invented, but I'd never seen one before and I remember thinking, that's cool, I should make one one day. Then one of Jimmy DiResta's mates, David Waelder (who worked in...

Making a ring from a coin

50p?! The micro-inflation zone of Bristol Zoo strikes again. Coin press, much better word than mangler, in fact, that probably throws something up in Google, mangler didn't give me much.

Making a ring from a coin

Totally unrelated (but people are mentioning lbs and it reminded me), but I actually managed to walk away from a reclamation yard financially unscathed and with exactly what I wanted on Wednesday. A 56lb Avery weight for a tenner and I was happy with that. In fact, he caught me unawares when...
