    Home Lift

I have gone through a similar process with a stairlift for my mother. New, they are extortionately expensive because they are well designed and well made and hence very safe. Sadly, because of the circumstances of most users there are many second hand ones about. The manufacturers try...

    Mini Cordless Chainsaw...any good?

I have two of the Stihl top handle battery saws. I now rarely use the petrol 020/MS200T saws that sit in the workshop. The battery saws are very, very impressive. They have a narrower chain (1/4 inch picco from memory). I have yet to go through 2 batteries in a day, and some days they do a lot...

Squirrels. Love ‘em or hate ‘em?

A 30-06 round is a bit excessive but once in while it seems to persuade the little *******s to stay away until the bits of their relation have finished dripping from the branches…..

    Angle Grinder Direction of Rotation

Yes, having looked again I agree-they are both spinning the same way. Doesn't alter the fact that the author of the manual should be encouraged to find a different occupation.

    Angle Grinder Direction of Rotation

In the original post the grinder is shown in the same position in both images but rotating in different directions. They can't both be correct unless the grinder has a reversing switch, which would be unusual to say the least. Which way would you prefer to use a chainsaw, cutting down so that...

    Dodged a bullet———almost

You can't legally shoot deer other than muntjac and CWD with .223 calibre in the UK.....

    Ancient Stihl chainsaw

L and S list a replacement for the 048, which as far as I can remember includes the AV model. https://www.lsengineers.co.uk/ignition-module-for-stihl-026-044-part-no-0000-400-1300.html The part number should be on yours somewhere, so fairly easy to check if it's the right one.

    Replacement gear required

Why not replace both the rack and the gear? You can source matching rack and pinions quite easily and just need something approximate to the original. You could shim the rack accordingly to get the correct engagement.....

    Recommendation for security cameras

I've got the Arlo Ultra 2 cameras plus the base station (which is required). I have the app on an Ipad and on my phone, you can view stuff and control it all when you are on the same wifi network. I only pay for the cloud service if I'm going to be away for an extended time. There are ways to...

    Recommendation for security cameras

Its to an SD card in the main unit that sits in your place of choice in the house. The cameras are very good, the app is glitchy and the customer service is appalling. It's also very expensive, I would have sent it back but was outside my 30 days or whatever it was. I have persevered, and the...

They must be having a right laugh

Until I read this one I was quite happily observing the tennis. Now I really don’t know what to believe😳 All I would add is that it seems strange that the US have just pulled out of the one place that really does need help just to stick their nose right back in where they are simply not welcome...

    Energy may go even higher

Red diesel will still be available, just not to as many sectors as before…..although I agree that it will result in increased costs. Another stealth tax, and to be honest, I’m rather surprised that the usual suspects in the media haven’t cottoned on and made a big fuss. I suppose it just goes...

Build your own home - UK

I occasionally do some surveys/ geomatics/ setting out for a local design and build developer. His clients often buy a property with an existing house on it, knock it down and build their dream. There are obviously planning conditions to be met, but I have seen some extremely nice builds on...

    Energy may go even higher

I am fairly sure that part of the negotiations around Hinley Point C resulted in a guarantee by the government that the consortium building it would receive a minimum price per KWH. The number I recall, but have no evidence to back it up, was an equivalent to the consumer of around 80 pence per...

Ok, so 2 equals 2 except when it doesn’t ?????? You win, I give up 🤣🤣

    Guns,guns, and more Guns

Very true, and its also quite likely that some individuals know that their life expectancy is so low that the authorities are actually much less feared than the ‘opposition’.
