    Handle collet

I'm hoping someone can help. I'm thinking of turning some handles and want to be able to swap out gouges as and when I want to. I've been looking and the hope/ sorby handles seem/are a little out of my price range. I was wondering if anyone knows of where you can get hold of the ferrel with the...

A few more things turned today. Kept me out the ☀️. All from some green laurel that the local nursery had cut down last week. When I told them what I wanted it for they were interested in what could be turned so told them I only turn the simple stuff (simple for sum but not me 😂) so a few bud...

Had a little time this afternoon so decided to finally use the project pieces the kids got me for Xmas. Also a tea light holder for SWMBO's birthday. I've got all bases covered as one sons a fireman and ones a paramedic so if it all goes t*ts up I should be ok 🤞🤣🤣

Finally able to spend a couple of hrs in the shed so came up with these tea-light holders for my sister's birthday. Apricot branch for the 3 tea light holder and Cedar for the single 👍. Still learning but having fun while doing it 🙂

    Bulk buying bowl blanks

I got some logs from the village pub🍻. In there for Sunday lunch and noticed loads out the back. Asked the landlord where he sourced them from and he said any farmer who'd had a tree come down let him know and off he went with his chain saw. Asked if I could take a few and he kindly obliged. Cut...

    advice for beginner turners

Hi Rich and welcome to the club. When I started I was unable to get to any clubs or join any courses (cost ) so spent hours on YouTube watching and rewatching beginners videos and then got to like a few so subscribed. Then it was put some scrap wood between centres and try to turn something not...

Sorry my warped sense of humour. It gorgeous and if I can have half your talent I'll be a happy man 👍. I've seen people on that video place who couldn't do what you do

    Lets see your wood

Paid a visit to RHS Bridgewater today so these are not my wood piles but when the wife saw me with the look of " I wonder what I can make" I had to take a few pics. Not sure how much is usable but wanted to have a rummage to see but got the death stare so stayed away 😂😂

@Stig. Looking good for a table at the school fête. Love the different shaped vases. Unusual but still eye-catching 👍

    Child safe finish

Hi all, Grandchild No 6 was born in Feb and I've been toying (no pun intended 😁) with the idea of turning a rattle for him. I've got some beech, ash or sapele spindles but I'm unsure which one would be best. I think the beech and ash are non toxic so would be good for this project. After...

    First turned item

Looking good V8. Better than my first turned pen holder which had a hole off centre to put the pen in 👍

Hexagon Shelves - Am I mad?

Would these be useful. Placed at strategic points for weight distribution. seem to be flush fitting. I've used similar to hang a display unit. Z Clamps, https://amzn.eu/d/9x118ot

Single most useful tool in your shop

+1 for tape measure/rule. As the in law always used to tell me, measure umpteen times and cut once. Still get it wrong though 🤣. They put the little marks so close together 😆

Nothing ever goes to plan 😞. Turning the First bowl and bang. Massive chunk comes flying off ( didn't notice the split 🤦) so what started as an 8inch bowl ended up a lot smaller 🤣 and thought 1 more pass as you do and ended up going through the bottom 😱. So I started again on a smaller piece I...
