Beautiful work Adam, can't wait to see it stained/sealed or even guilded??

Mystery pipe - what to do?

I wouldn't use a steel (metal anything) rod to probe it in case there's a live cable underground else you could risk electrocution!

    Clamping two/three polished surfaces together..

Thanks :) So you reckon the polish (once fully cured) won't be damaged by the work top / formica pressing down on the two surfaces?

    Clamping two/three polished surfaces together..

Hi Pete, Hi Pete, thanks for your reply & the information - although, I'm just not sure that might still leave an impression using cloth? I'll use domino's for alignment purposes. Regards, Matthew

Jeez... that is amazing work, well done! Bravo! You've got a job for life with that fine workmanship. Amazing :) Roy James Martin is a fantastic carver I follow on Instagram - but i think you have edged it - no pun intended!

Hi there, This piece of furniture I made & designed whilst on my course at Rowden Atelier in Devon a few years back - I never finished it, but I finally insulated a small workshop last year (at home) to finally complete this piece I designed. I was really after some advice from you wonderful...

    Norton Combo Oil Stone

Howdy y'all... Hope everyone is well. I got taught to sharpen with Japaneee water stones and dry and wet grinding... but got myself a Norton Oil stone, getting tired of flattening them all the time and just wanted to use the oil stone to fettle/tickle/etc the edge quickly and at speed. I...

    Mitre Lock Router Bit

I used to be a fan of Rutlands.com but like others have said on here that it tends to be a race to bottom using their stuff...but better than 50 quid I suppose. Just a thought for a one off job.

The best thing to do is do what I saw Will from "Repair Shop" use. Rather than sand so it looks brand new and odd, you could try/use his restoration mix; Turpentine Methylated Spirits White Wine Vinegar Linseed Oil Equal parts of all, mix together (in a bottle with a lid - shake it so it's...

    Tier 4

Absolutely... I love the 1920's art deco period of furniture/design. And pretty dancing ladies. I'll drink to that.

    Tier 4

I'm none of those things and 'quackery' is your only response to what I thought was caring response to the subject about what is going on in the world. You keep you your views and I'll keep to mine. And you know that how? What is your source?

    Tier 4

I agree, it's the handling of this pandemic and restriction of freedoms and all that incessant fear mongering I don't like. I hate it. Look around you and watch people being led like donkeys to their AVOIDABLE slaughter nappies on their faces. A virus in nano millimetres in size, a 3 ply mask...

    Tier 4

The way I see this whole lockdown / Covid tier system is....here goes...It's a massive power grab. A power grab with addition of public funds, those funds (tax payers money, yours and mine) have been shifted from public hands into private. 12 Billion GBP to Serco for example. The virus is real...

Cascamite - Good for bonding brass to hardwood?

Hello fellow woodworkers. First time on here and my first post....so be nice! :) Just wondered if anyone can recommmend cascamite for bonding metal to wood - in my case it's for a brass detail to an oak table top. Any suggestions or pointers would be most appreciated. Kind regards, Matthew
