You would also need some way of holding the glass tubes on the lathe and, as you want to direct a flame at them, it would need to be able to withstand that as well. Unless you have hundreds of them to do then the costs will outway the practicality of it.

I think the extension would be too flimsy for that. You would have to build a supporting structure for the router so you might as well just remove the extension.
