    I have a vacuum setup on my graduate lathe which has a bearing on the outboard end with a large dia 15mm pipe to the pump i have a bigger pump than that one you linked to when i use it ....but i have one of those too and i have used it to see if it works ( slower to come down to full vacuum)...

    well i would only replace when they dont work... if theres lumps missing or loose ends flapping around replace but if the whole tyre looks like your pictures theres years left in them

    Well its a lot quieter and has a collet chuck with er20 collets that take up to 1/2 13mm bits down to 1mm if needed Nothing to wear out(brushes) Smaller Cutting ability is the same i would say

    Well i have always thought that the mandril was 1/4” 0.25” But apparently some bushings are to fit on a 6mm mandrill so wont fit on a 1/4 shaft

    If you are buying a chuck then i would recommend a record sc1 or sc4 then its a simple insert adapter and when you out grow the lathe a new adapter will make your chuck fit your new lathe
