    I would keep the belt "gearbox" at a speed slightly less than half top speed then use the inverter to adjust from about 20htz as your min speed and 100 htz as your maximum Change belts if you have to for more torque or speed Ian Can you change parameters on your inverter ? do you have a manual?

    I use a 1mm disc on an angle grinder to touch them up when blunt. hold the A/G in a vice or clamp and offer the hole saw up by hand wear eye protection etc

    When you say " take the headstock off turn it upside down then start it and replace" do you mean that you are moving the motor around? If so its more likely to be the switch within the motor thats lost its spring return this switches in and out of the starting capacitor spinning the spindle...

    Theres 2 greasing points one at the back of the spindle on the inboard side and one inside the lid at the left hand side ( outboard) They are screw caps sometimes you remove the cap fill with grease and screw back on ...as you screw on it forces a bit into the bearings...this has to come out...
