Electric house heating - any new tech savvy members?

I agree, up to a point, but any form of heating will perform better in a well-insulated building. The main reason why heat pumps fit better into new buildings is the lower output temperature they provide. This means either much bigger radiators (than a boiler-based system), or underfloor...

Electric house heating - any new tech savvy members?

Why not a heat pump? We have a 270m2 house which we heat with a single-phase (9kW) ground-source heat pump.

    Cheap Scarifier?

I’ve had an Einheil one for a few years, but really only used once or twice a year. Does our ~200m^2 lawn in a couple of hours, including raking up the debris. It comes with a collection bag that I’ve never used - it would be full in seconds!

Is there such a thing as a 1/2" shank 6mm spiral cutter?

Agreed, but my impression was that the OP was using a hand-held router.

Is there such a thing as a 1/2" shank 6mm spiral cutter?

I’ve never seen one. Most (all?) the spiral bits I’ve used have been solid carbide. I suspect there are a few reasons why noone makes a 6mm bit on a 12.7mm shank - 1. Machining away that much carbide would be hard work, and costly, and 2. The stress concentration around the step in diameter...

Marking hand tools. How and why?

I’ve got a load of tools evidently owned by someone called Stanley. I’ll get me coat.

    Festool track clamp.

David Stanton is the Australian chap, as memory serves. @petermillard, of this parish, spoke to him on one of his recent videos. I’m pretty sure that his (DS’s) devices pulled the edge of the rail hard against the dogs. This thread on the forum...

Is there any trick to make unscrewing easier from old wood?

The Rockler screw extractors are fiendishly expensive, if you can find them in the UK. I’ve tried using a diamond grit tile drill, which sort-of works, but makes plenty of smoke! I also found these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07T4Y3CMJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1...

    Workshop stool

I have one of these: WINPLUS Ultra Cushioned Shop Stool with Deluxe Backrest from Amazon, though it’s shown as ’currently unavailable’. I use it mostly when I’m doing small assembly or electronics tasks. Deliberately didn’t buy one with wheels, because of action and reaction, padded because...

Securing a tracksaw rail to bench dogs

I've just made a 3D-printed version of the clip that @petermillard and David Stanton described in Peter's recent video, for the Makita track. Render of the design attached. It has a pair of lugs that engage in the T-track groove in the track, which prevents it rotating, and thus needs only one...

    Pocket hole jigs

The one you linked doesn’t adjust for stock thickness. There’s another (more expensive - there’s a surprise!) Trend PH jig (eg Here) that does adjust for thickness. I’ve been using one of these for a while, works fine, and the included extension bars and slides make handling wide panels easier.

marking gauge, should the blade turn?

The instructions for the Veritas wheel marking gauge (here: http://www.veritastools.com/Content/Assets/ProductInfo/EN/05N35.10EN.pdf). say that the cutter is non-rotating.

    B& D Workmate upgrade top

The original Workmate (I have one dating from ~1974 - one owner from new, never raced or rallied) had a top made from 18mm birch ply, with a doubler along the leading edge. The dog holes in the top had pressed-in metal bushes.

    Router table pocket problem

Difficult on the router table. I’d approach it by making a template and using the router alone, with guide bushes. Cut the through hole first with a large (say 30mm) guide bush, then the rebate with the same-size cutter and a smaller bush (in the example, a 20mm bush here will give a 5mm rebate).

The extraction outlet on the back of the saw probably comes from a shroud around the blade - the one on my Scheppach table saw certainly does. The dust falling out of the base of the saw has bypassed that. I’ve built a similar cabinet to yours, but decided not to extract from the cavity under...
