    Trend angle measurer £16.

22.5 degrees is for an octagon. 30 degrees for a hexagon.

    Boiler change!!

We’ve had a GSHP in and working for nearly 10 years, routinely serviced. No need to replace the propylene glycol solution in the ground loops. The service engineer just checks the concentration with a refractometer as part of the service. A lot of myths around!

Extracting Rusted Furniture Bolts From Outdoor Furniture

Drill around the offending screw with a hollow drill. Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07T4Y3CMJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 then remove the remains with fine-nosed pliers. Alternatively, @Inspector has it right!

    What Knotting Solution to use.

No matter what paint system you use, if the resin from the knots expands under the paint, it will eventually break through. The only perm solution I’ve found - for anything but the smallest knots - is to drill a shallow recess into the knot and plug with clear timber. A bit tedious...

    Upgrade workshop extraction. Any advice?

Thanks @MikeK - that’s really helpful. I don’t have the Incra plate, but I can 3D print some vented inserts for my table. - Geoff

    Upgrade workshop extraction. Any advice?

Mike, Can I ask a bit more about the air inlet. Is that a separate vent from the side of the box, in line with the spindle, or just the leak through the top plate? TIA Geoff

    Upgrade workshop extraction. Any advice?

I have one of the 2-motor Camvac extractors connected to a (63mm) duct system with blast gates. Very happy with it, more so since I added the silencer box shown in the Hooked on Wood video linked above.

    Aluminium Extrusion for Planer Fence

How about a length of aluminium rectangular section tube?

What's the best way to finish the seat corner this bench?

You’ve got 2 choices: do some trigonometry to calculate the dimensions and angles of the pyramid that defines the intersection of the two backs; or fit one right into the corner and scribe the other one to it.

    Cutting groves with a router

A slightly different router jig from what the OP suggests. Still 2 parallel guides, but separated by 30mm. Use with a 30mm guide bush on the router, and the appropriate size cutter for the wid of housing required. Simple, of course, to do stopped housings too. Agree with Pete that clamping...

    Finish for sycamore

Polyvine wax-finish varnish. Minimal colour change, dead easy to apply, and durable.

Aluminium Bifold vs Slider Door - which is more robust? Which will last the longest?

We have two bifolds, one 3.6m in 4 panels, the other 4.5m in 5. They’ve been in for a bit over 9 years, and aside from some adjustments over the first year (as the house settled), they’ve worked well, only needing an annual clean of the track and gaskets. The smaller one is arranged as 1+3...

Record Power - Rip off carriage costs

IIRC, I bought my (smaller) Camvac extractor from D&M tools - D & M Tools Search, who offered the same price as Record, but free delivery over £99.

    CamVac 386-5 or Axminster AW118CE

I’ve got one of the smaller, 2-motor CamVac units (336-4 iirc). Very satisfied with it. I use it connected to fixed 63mm duct, with table saw, router table, sander, drill press, and also with hand-held power tools. Plenty of suck. I’d guess with a planer, you might want to use a 100mm duct...

That’s the universal answer to difficult questions: “Use ethanol!” I know I do!

    Router cut issue

Endorse all the comments above. Good quality bits undoubtedly help - Wealden is my normal starting point (Wealden Tool Company Limited). From your description, you are cutting in the right direction - @Spectric ’s drawings lay it out clearly. As @clogs says, softwood endgrain is always...

    Flanged bushing search

This is almost certainly a flanged oilite bush - sintered bronze, impregnated with oil. bearingboys.co.uk bearingshop.co.uk simplybearings.co.uk all list a variety of flanged bushes.

(Dredges darkest depths of distant memory) #define begin { #define end } 20 years since I wrote any ‘C’, and I’m sure it shows!
