    Inca Bandsaw service

So far, I’ve cleaned up the table, a light sand to take out any nicks and bumps and finished off with scotchbrite. It came out nice The slot you see there is actually a dovetail slot - a very nice feature. If I were the new owner I’d be on the lookout for a mitre fence, as this one doesn’t...

    Inca Bandsaw service

The tyres are slightly perished. I’ve ordered a set from the US, and Royal Mail tell me via text message that they’ve already cleared customs - or it could be a scam.

    Inca Bandsaw service

The lower wheel is keyed to the motor shaft It took a bit of persuasion to come off the shaft, a little heat from a small blow torch helped, while trying to avoid setting fire to all the dust behind the wheel. N.B. I only really removed this wheel because I wanted to hear the motor running...

    Inca Bandsaw service

A quick assessment: Upper and lower blade guide thrust bearings will be replaced. One is rough, the other has welded itself together after seizing. The upper one is easy to get out, the lower one needs a long hex key, gripping the short end with pliers. SKF replacement bearings have been...

    Inca Bandsaw service

I’ve started servicing an Inca Euro 360 bandsaw ready to go to its new owner @Mike MW, and thought I would start a thread on the process in case it helps anyone else in future. I’m not an Inca expert by any means, but part of my day-to-day work involves servicing various machinery, and I like...

    Brass chisels? Why?

First guess would be somewhere you don’t want sparks, like an engineers tool kit from a petroleum plant or oil rig. But they look like a specialist set and cold chisels don’t usually have wooden handles.

    finish for paper

Laminate then resin (or not). If you have a local print shop they may have a big industrial laminator for the signage you walk all over when you visit the supermarket.

    Small bench mounted bandsaws

Quick update. Saw is in my workshop. It has a rip fence but no mitre fence, but does come with a circle cutting attachment. After a full strip down and service I’m guessing I’ll be looking for £400 or thereabouts looking at recent sales. Will update as work progresses.

Do fancy spiral thicknessers just work without tearout?

My 2p worth, the spiral blocks look like a nightmare to maintain with tiny screws and inserts stuck in place with lignin etc. I’d have a tersa block any day, double sided and a variety of different types available. I think you can even get solid carbide knives.

    Pink anti-theft tools

I’d get decent tools and paint them pink rather than buy the gimmick ones. Any large enough steel tools I own have my initials tig welded onto them.

    Staircase treads...

I’ve got some epoxy but consensus on here was PVA would be fine. Some of the cracks I have to deal with are fairly bad...

    Staircase treads...

Hi, All the plastering and paint needed to be done first, and with the lockdown and home schooling two small kids that’s only just reaching completion... Hoping to update soon but I haven’t done anything further on the treads yet. Keen to see results of any more experiments you do! I have...

    Small bench mounted bandsaws

Looking at your location, I could deliver this in June if you can wait. Using a courier is possible but it would need to be a pallet and a bit of a faff to pack up as well as the risk (quick search shows another one on here wrecked by a courier)

    Small bench mounted bandsaws

Here it is: Full working order but thrust bearing on blade guide needs replacement. I can see a crack in the lower case and the fence looks like it has had the blade rub against it at some point. New blade(s) recommended as for any used band saw. No idea of value. Forum thoughts...

    Small bench mounted bandsaws

I don’t think any of the modern bench mounted machines are notable, build quality wise, but the Record seems the best of a bad bunch. A friend of mine has an Inca for sale if you’re interested.
