    The joy Of Citric Acid

What kind of dilution rate do you use it at? How much acid eating juice would I get if bought say 1kg of citric acid? Thanks.

    Coaxial cable connectors for TV

Good point there, thanks. How does one know though, whats good quality and what's not? It's hard to tell these days when most stuff is bought online, with so many options of seemingly similar looking products and prices.

    Coaxial cable connectors for TV

Thanks all. That's sorted then! I bought an adapter exactly like that earlier this afternoon @Dabop .

    Coaxial cable connectors for TV

Apologies in advance here, for a thread derail. I'm looking for a new FM/Dab antenna connector for a Hi-Fi, but I'm unsure what type it is. It looks quite like these Coaxial connectors, but not quite. Can anyone advise me please? I need a right angle, shorter profile version of these, as the...

    Pillar Drill Bargain

Same reason as me maybe - because it's old and heavy, one of my principal motivations for aquiring stuff!

    Pillar Drill Bargain

I've just spotted this on Gumtree. No idea of the quality, never heard of that make, but it looks heavy and old, two good signs! For £10 it's got to be worth it. If only it was closer to me........ Please view this ad: Walker Turner Pillar Drill...

    Makita Chuck Wobble

I have a similar problem with a Makita combi drill. It's a DHP 459. Shortly after I bought it, about 6 years ago, it developed a wobbly chuck condition. I had been doing some fairly heavy masonry drilling but even so. I'd forgotten to apply for the warranty but sent it back to them for repair...

    Big Hammers

So it turned into an industrial history Easter weekend for us. Today we visited a water powered forge, Churchill Forge in Blakedown. Fascinating to see how things were made. The wheels were actually running and some of the machines and tools. Plus an awful lot more heavy, rusty, wrought iron...

    Big Hammers

Yes, he mentioned Monday hammers. Great picture, thank you. It makes me realise what that short cylinder is beside the smaller hammer in my picture; it's the center section in one of those big ole chain links. I'm sure they had a name for it.

    Big Hammers

So I was amazed to see these today. At the Black Country Museum, well worth a trip for anyone interested in old times, industrial history or just lots and lots of wrought iron! The smaller of these was 28lbs. The guy reckoned the behemoth was about 50lb. It was used by two men, hence the two...

    what a waste

Some is but an awful lot is plastic parcel tape. Or paper reinforced with plastic or glass fibres in the case of Amazon.
  14. S

    what a waste

Thank makes sense. Thank you. I still think it would be easier to use less plastic tape. Mind you I do have a "bee in my bonnet" about the excessive use of plastic everywhere!

    what a waste

Here's a question that I've been pondering for a while. How do paper and card recycling facilities cope with plastic contamination? Cardboard packaging boxes seem to be secured with ever increasing amounts of plastic tape. Amazon being the worst offender, (as usual). Their tape now looks to be...

First attempt at sand casting antlers

That looks really good. Thanks for sharing. Were you melting the Pewter in a saucepan, on a gas hob? I didn't realise that was possible.

    Who’s Making Marmalade?

Regarding fears over mould and stuff. I must have made a few gallons of jam and chutney over the years and can only ever remember a couple of jars that have had mould on top. Even then I just scraped it off and it was fine underneath. I never bother canning and don't keep jam in the fridge...
