Jet JWBS-16x bandsaw motor bearing replacement

Its entirely achievable by a DIY person and not particularly hard to do. Try having a look at the web site www.owwm.org. Its a an American site but pretty much useable by anyone. Sign in and search for " electric motors bearings" and sit back and be overwhelmed by the volume of responses...

    Sorting an uneven concrete floor

MikeG is right in his approach to what you should aim for this winter. I would add that the narrow RHS strip between you and the neighbour has what looks like an invasive bamboo ( not eucalyptus). This will also add to your problems as bamboo is able over time to breakthrough 3-4 inches of...

I am using Chrome/Gmail and have used this account since 2000 ish so getting this issue is a bit of a problem.

Help with issues with Google please

My Google apps work OK except email. In email app I can see my email index but I am unable to click on each line item so that they will expand into a full email. The list of available actions has vanished from overhead the listed emails to be floating alongside the line item. When in email...

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

Try a search on key "replacement electric motors" on Google.

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

Mark, 2.4Kw is roughly 3.3333 HP. So start telephoning. 2820 is a bit of an odd speed but any motor running at say 2750 revs should be OK. The most problematic thing will probably be the diameter of the shaft coming out of the motor. If you can't find an exact match then start...

    Jig saw flashed out

Sounds like a capacitor gave up and flashed out. Happened to me on two tools. Took it to my local tool repair shop and it cost me £15 to get it fixed.

Recommendations for saw sharpening file please

Droogs, How do you order from them as their web site has no page to order from. Do you simply email them. Do you have to buy a dozen at a time.

Old Wolf 8” pedestal grinder - buffer/polisher conversion Qs

Sawdust=manglitter, WD40 is NOT a PENETRATING OIL. The WD bit stands for Water Displacement. WD40 has no use as a penetrating oil and is inappropriate in this case. So first task is to buy a penetrating oil from say your local motor shop or mail order. If you don't buy it then the very...

    Lighting for a workshop

Be prepared to make your own frames for fitting to the ceiling and also to include the driver/power unit. I got caught out by that for a few minutes. The odd thing is that the seller of mine sold the frames for fitting at 1.5 times the price of the light units.

    Is this sensible?

This is not an answer to SammyQ's questions but an extra query. The asbestos cement roof if solid should be OK so is it possible to create an insulated roof over the asbestos cement and not under it. This could be self ventilated and self draining. Just an idea but once...

    Dipped Door Disaster

You don't want to read this but either paint them OR make new doors in a style you want. Quite a dilema.

    american table saw

MikeJhn, I believe you. The TLC advantage is that there is a range of units available. Just glanced at the catalogue and they have 4 differing units for sale. I have not looked at Screwfix for this but it all depends on what voltage/amperage you need.

    american table saw

Talltrees, Get a copy of the TLC catalog. They are a supplier of electrical goods. In there you will find a range of UK to US voltage transformers. They range from 0.8a upto 20 amps. Prices are not too bad.

Bandsaw blade ‘fore / aft’ pulse

Re above two messages. I agree that the guides are a bit too far back from the blade edges. Side guides should be just shy of the bottom of the blade gullet. If the rear guide is not close ( say 0.5mm or a bit less) from the rear edge of the blade then no real guidance is being achieved...

Bandsaw blade ‘fore / aft’ pulse

I would make out a check list and go down it one by one as in:- 1) Check wheels by spinning them with blade removed and look for wobble. Lower wheel first 2) Check tyres by feeling with hands and also position a piece of wood across the wheel and spin it to look for bumps 3) Check lower wheel...

    Electrical uncertainty

Thanks for that and the earlier message re Wago. It turned out the whole thing was just too tight by about 2 or 3 mm so I had to undo it all and go buy some Wago units which sat nicely in the box around the lamp. Thanks for the advice though.
