Precision made frame for flat work surface.

I made one from metal trestles. The long bars in which the planer slides along are attached to the trestles. Nice and simple with minimal parts and works well for me. my-portable-wide-slab-flattening-jig-t117420.html#p1288199

Phenolic toilet door to router table top.

At work recently they were throwing out some Phenolic cubical doors. I kept one in the hope of turning into a router table top. I had heard it is pretty hard to cut. I thought I would give it ago anyway. I had been looking at purchasing a commercial Phenolic pre-made router top. However they...

Wadkin AGS. A quest for better extraction...

I have been using a 'temporary' setup for a while now... 5 years... However a few days ago I broke my quickly made under table dust extraction unit on my AGS 12. Dust has been spewing out a little more than I want so thought I should sort out the issue. To start this is what I had made...

What size/thickness metal legs for heavy table top.

Hi, I require some recommendations/advice on what size metal I should be looking at for my live edge table top. Using a volume to weight calculator it is approximately 80kg. I am going to get the metal in and cut it all myself then find someone to weld it together for me. Looking at a similar...

Ill test your idea once my jig as accessible again. (Big slab on at the moment). So far it seems to work.... When I first made it I did quite a bit of testing. I had flattened one side of a wide a slab, flipped and turned it checking it in both direction and the planed side sits flat on the...

    Painting a Machine

Just finished my morticer in Blue and Black. Was originally going to do blue and white but I think it will show up the dirt to much. Matches my planer too! Morticer by jamie skinner, on Flickr Morticer by jamie skinner, on Flickr Morticer by jamie skinner, on Flickr

My Portable Wide Slab Flattening Jig

It has a adjustable spring...

    3d printed 4-Way Clamp

The standard nozzle on a printer is 0.4mm so that is you thinnest wall/thickness you can print. You can get smaller nozzle down to 0.2mm for finer detail. For small gears you would probably be best with nylon filament or carbon fiber filament depending on load. Resolution/accuracy wise if i want...

    3d printed 4-Way Clamp

You can pick up 3d FDM printers for as little as £150. PLA Plastic is £15 for 1 kg which will make a 1 KG worth of parts. These parts probably cost 50p each in plastic. . If you can design the parts you can save your self a lot of time and money. And even make money selling the parts on as I do.

    3d printed 4-Way Clamp

PLA will be fine for what you are using it for. With good layer adhesion and thick wall thickness should last a very long time! If there is room you could also add knobs to the nuts to make them a little easier to turn. Does the plastic marr the wood at all? Probably not tight enough to do...

My Portable Wide Slab Flattening Jig

Thought this may be of interest to some people.... I required a way to flatten a wide slab for a large live edge table top (2.3m x 900m) that I have been asked to make. Looking at some designs of just screwing 2x4s to the side of the slab... I was looking to make something a little more...

I use super glue when I replace my Makita orbit sander 125mm velcro pad. Never has come off. I think I must have about three stacked on it by now. I use Everbuild HV20 Grade HV 20Grm Industrial Superglue High Viscosity, Clear, 20g £3.18 on Amazon at the moment. I recommend the miter fast ones as...

    Minimax fs30g vs Starttrite sd31

Regarding your Kity machine. Have you had a look at adjusting/cleaning the rollers? Cleaning and waxing the tables. Sharpening and setting the knives correctly?

Pocket holes for shelf fixing? Crazy idea?

With anything like this I would try on some scrap wood first. Screw it into any wall just to test. Even a shed wall etc Add weight to see how much weight it takes to fail. I would imagine you will be fine as long as there is enough 'meat' behind the screw heads.

Anyone know about: A. A. Jones & Shipman - Drilling machines

Hi, I picked up a A. A. Jones & Shipman - Drilling machine from Gumtree for a hefty £5! I was wondering if anyone knows anything about them? Very little online about them. All I can really find out is that A. A. Jones & Shipman formed in 1911 from A. A. Jones, Pollard and Shipman when...
