Noob tipsfor Laser Cutter / CNC for woodworking?

I have a WorkBee and have been happy with that as a beginner machine. I have since added parts to upgrade it though. I use Fusion 360 which is available for free and is very powerful. You can create your designs on it and then choose your tool paths. Going down this router you just need to buy...

    Startrite Bandsaw Owners

Yes it does limit the post travel. For us we dont cut thick stock so it doesnt matter to us. If you removed some of the guard on the top on left side you would then be able to slide it all the way up as this will then fit around the upper wheel. As we only cut thin stock it was just easier for...

With our recent audit we were told that manual brakes are NOT acceptable and kicked up a fuss... However when all the paper work came in they didnt even mention them, only the guards.

    Startrite Bandsaw Owners

We recently had our school Startrite saws listed as not safe for use by an external company due to being able to touch the back of the blade behind the front guards. They wanted to charge about £100 per saw to 'fix' the issue. So some quick measurments and some CAD I came up with this and then...

Multico B2 Planer Restoration with pictures

Just remember to remove the grease nipples from each pin first for you knock the pins out. I had to grind down a socket bit to fit. There are pins in the handles. Very hard to remove though, try hammering them out to start.

Multico B2 Planer Restoration with pictures

The attach by large pins going through one side of the tables to the other. You can see a picture of me hammering them out early in the post. If you look at the finished machine there are holes in the side of the tables. These are where the pins go through and join the parralelgram mechanism...

If you could supply the file I think I can open it in illustrator and convert it to a different file format. Not sure if that would help?

    Air Filters

With regards to the power supply I would double what the fans need. Minimum of 320 watts. Each fan is 80watts. So two fans 160 watt. I don’t think there is a great difference in prices for different power supply ratings either. I would add pre filters for sure, even just a cut up felt dust...

    Deep Impact!

I have been getting some odd issues with my planer recently; it occurs when planing wide boards at max width capacity of the thicknesser. The edges of the wide boards when planed are left slightly tapered as if they are cutting deeper at the edges but not in the middle. I knew my blades were...

Drum sander - thinking of moving the right hand side clamp.

Done exactly this! I blogged it: I ended up re balancing the drum with blutac inside the drum, adjusting the weight until the drum no longer vibrated. https://skinnerdesigns.blogspot.com/2017/02/jet-22-44-plus-drum-sander-modification.html

    Velcro on Orbital Sander

I just super glue on a new velcro pad to the old one. I now also use pad savers which is essentially another piece of double sided velcro. When this wears you just replace with another. A lot easier that wearing down the velcro on the sander. I believe Axminster sell them.
