Anybody know how to contact Dewalt UK..

I'd try their service phone number or email here Contact us . Once talking to a real person you stand a chance of getting transferred internally if necessary. It is pretty good, and unusual, that it is a real phone number and not a premium rate one. Craig PS Just noticed at the bottom of the...

Anyone with big machinery here, willing to help??

When I built my Klausz bench, the quarter 6 foot, 4" thick sawn beech had a twist, which the thicknesser just followed. To get the twist out I made a planing cradle. Basically thick MDF screwed together into a U shape. Multiple screws through the sides into the beech planks held them true. Once...

    Sealing up a garage door

I count myself lucky - my workshop is in the single width garage. Up and over door, and not one drop of rain gets in. Dry leaves in Autumn, and spiders, yes. And whoever built the garage put a slight fall in the concrete floor towards the door, which I'm sure is a contributory factor to lack of...

    Best easy finish for Walnut?

What you use depends very much on what is going to be on the shelves - in other words how rugged the finish needs to be.

New EMIR wooden plane body and other things

I have a 2 1/2 " blade and chipbreaker that I recovered from a rubbish wooden plane. It is Marples, and the tapered blade and chipbreaker weighs half a kg. You're welcome to that for the cost of postage. Let me know if you'd like it. Craig

    Axminster price increases

Nah. This is financial naivety. When I was at Oxford Instruments the FD used to buy forward sterling to future proof our prices. It is a trick used by financial institutions all the time - it is the reason your pension fund (if you have one) beats bank rates by a healthy margin.

    Axminster price increases

I bought the previous version of this PT. Physically identical other than the colour. I bought it when they were doing an offer - about £800 including a dust extractor like this Axminster Craft AC153E Dust Extractor .

Cheapest material for semi-disposable cutting boards?

Anything with MDF has three problems. It is not ecofriendly to produce (urea formadehide resin to bond the wood fibres). It is dangerous stuff to work with and needs excellent dust handling and a face mask (my cousin died from dust inhalation; he was a set builder at Pinewood). And if wet will...

Plane sole lapping the easy way

I just had a response from Ray Isles regarding surface grinding of a #7 sole. £22.50 plus VAT, and shipping each way. So I reckon £33 all told. They'll do the sides too for another £7.50 plus VAT That I would suggest is a bargain, given that the last #7 I did by hand took me several hours. It...

That was a bolted on bargain - if one of the motors on my various woodwork machines goes kaput, they look like the place to go! Thanks for letting us know!

    Making small circles

https://trenddirectuk.com/trend-crb-combination-router-base.html There are all sorts of ways of using this wonder-gizmo. With the correct radius router cutter you can even curve the edge. To deal with the small hole in the centre you need for the router base, you could drill a large hole, and...
