Cutting through ceramic tiled worktop in situ.

Depending on the adhesion of the tile cement, could you try to remove the tiles from the centre of the area you are going to cut away? If you get enough whole ones to make good you could then remove from the whole area allowing you to cut the worktop only and re-tile / make good at the edges...

    Mystery wooden item

I went to a local hostelry this weekend where I saw an unusual item, basically a wooden wedge with a slot in one side, like a keyway and a corresponding raised fillet on the other side. This made me think several might be used together? It obviously has some age, I don't have a clue what it's...

    Woden W78 mystery part

Hi James, thanks for that but I do have the original fence and rods. Yes the Paramo doesn't look like much fun

    Woden W78 mystery part

Ah yes thanks, I've found a pic or two online, it does look very much look like this is the part I have acquired. Not likely to have much use for it... The Planemaster 10 looks 'interesting', guess it didn't really take off

    Woden W78 mystery part

It's a Woden W78 not the WS78. It still has the decal and original iron which is stamped Woden. It does have the twin rod fence, both bars and screws, I just didn't get them in the pic. Shame it's not the WS78 tho because I really like the brass/bronze fittings...

    Woden W78 mystery part

Ok thanks, I'll look into that - do you know which paramo plane?

    Woden W78 mystery part

I'm just back from the East coast and fell on a few bits including a 151 spokeshave for 50p minus the original hold down screw and a puller which might not be salvageable for the same However the find of the weekend for me was a Woden W78 rebate plane which seems to be complete, to the point of...

    No hole through headstock

The Axminster 50mm jaws have a disc with a MT 2 recess that fits tightly and flush with the jaws, this would allow you to use any MT2 accessories. But you'd have to remove the disc each time to knock out the drive spur etc ... If that's a nova Chuck you have on the lathe? again you can buy a...

    Paint stripper

I've used the Screwfix No Nonsense just fine on lots of things including trailer bodies, tool handles, wooden furniture etc. but found it bogged down on the thick treacly stuff you described. If it is the same stuff that was the edges of the flooring and stair treads in my house the only thing...

    Sopwith F1 Camel

Those are beautiful, I've liked your other models very much, and appreciate them for the skill and finesse involved. But I'm not massively into planes. These however, have always fascinated me, they have a charm in being from a time when technology was just starting to rapidly change the world...

Can someone explain elm to me, please?

    Coffee Table WIP(sort of)

That's a very nice piece - I'm not always a fan of sapele as I find it a bit plain, but you've really made that pop 👍

    Perscription safety glasses

My experiences are similar, the opticians aren't keen to give you your intra pupillary distance, but they have to, it's a simple piece of personal information, the difficulty is that they try to avoid by not taking the measurement during the sight test but when dispensing glasses. Like others...

Collected on Sunday, thanks Jim - good to meet you. Finally gotten round to a test drive, flattened, reground, honed and polished an old 1/2" firmer chisel. It's happily slicing punky endgrain 👍

Stuff for my BA submission in August. AKA Welcome to The Dark Side.

Your award is very well deserved but, I suspect, another step on a long and rewarding path - I look forward to learning more, thanks for sharing what you do. I hope you have some kind of rest, relaxation and self-reward mode 👍
