maybe ask grayorm to have a look at it for you. if you could get a router, this would change your woodworking world. adapt different designs into what you think you are capable of. no.1 is the prettiest, and changing this to a square mirror and non angled front would make it more achievable...
how good a deal is it?
never used an altendorf, but would like to try one, to see if I should start saving.
currently using a wadkin cp32, which was definitely a bargain at 1k
didn't do secret santa but looking at what you guys have given each other brought a smile to my face, looks amazing you've been very generous. well done all.

if you can pick it up cheap, and do it up cheap, and get it for the starting price, then i'd say yes. if you get it, I believe that you have to do a wip of the rebuild, as a rule of the forum.
mmmm. some nice shiny bits, recently realised how good it would be to have a lathe for this kind of stuff. bottle of brasso on your Christmas list Wallace?
thanks to berncarpenter I now have a donor machine, delivered today.
not sure my missuses was too impressed the other night when I told her I was buying another broken machine, and takes the crosscut count to 4.
already got an idea for what to do with what will remain of the donor.
got a couple of hours playing tonight.
got the motor released from the yolk, took b loody ages.
the yolk runs along two rods/rails with four bearings
the bearings have seen better days
bit of cleaning up, you can see the offset bolt on this which enables you to keep the nice fit...
