    wiring

I've used those in the past and they work nicely. It's worth having a proper set of crimps rather than bodging with pliers. Something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0-25-6mm-Term ... 20ec47d1f2

    Bobby's new build thread

Did the estate agent describe it as a "character property"?

    Cheap routers?

It certainly wasn't cheap, but as I'd originally planned on a lot of jig-based routing I went for the Bosch GMF1400CE, the one that came with a plunge and a fixed base. You could buy additional mounts (basically the fixed base without handles or baseplate) fairly cheaply from the US and I've...

    .............

I've not used it on wood, but the Plastikote chrome spray does indeed produce a very convincing chrome. You can't do anything with it after spraying though - lacquer turns it grey on the spot.

Comparison of tool prices over time.

You could look it up and find out. Or you could see if there's a more appropriate occupation listed at that link. Or you could investigate average UK wages for skilled woodworkers. There are many, many ways you could contribute positively to the thread.

Comparison of tool prices over time.

    Pretty much bang on from a quick Google. LN no4 from Axminster - £231.28 Average weekly wage for a carpenter - £462.09 http://www.axminster.co.uk/lie-nielsen- ... hing-plane http://www.icalculator.info/news/UK_ave ... _2014.html

    LN No9 Mitre Plane

This sort of snide dig is unbecoming of any hobby or profession.

Any of your significant others a seamstress?

My best beloved suggested (if you haven't already) taking a look at Folksy and Etsy. Lots of aprons there, and lots of people happy to take on custom work. The prices I found didn't look too daft either - couple of examples: https://folksy.com/shops/adoglikesparky...

Ah - I think it might be Afzelia on the sides.

    Aligning Blade to Bandsaw Table

Dang it - that was the video I was trying to remember/find. Certainly following the recommendations left my floorstanding Axminster White saw working much better than before.

    Aligning Blade to Bandsaw Table

It might be simpler to make a cut in a bit of pine or similar, then stop the saw, rotate the bit of pine around to behind the blade (keeping it flat on the table) and seeing if you can slide it over the back of the blade. That'd prove (or otherwise) the alignment and is easier than fiddling with...

Thanks! I've got a couple of nice bits of wenge - one a fairly big quartersawn board from which the box came. I'd not heard it was getting scarce, as you say it might be worth seeing if I can grab some more bits. I've got a chunk of cocobolo that was originally going to end up as about 6-8...

Any of your significant others a seamstress?

Do you have a pattern for the apron, or just a drawing of the finished article? My wife sews (but only for herself) and making the pattern is quite a separate art; it's worth a quick Google for a pattern as close as possible. You also need to think about what is a "reasonable amount" - it's a...

    IS THIS LEGAL??

I think the Revenue might argue the other way! ;) My guess is that any income is seen as gain in this context. If you raffled a set number of tickets, where the total value was less than or equal to the value of the prize(s) you'd be fine.

    IS THIS LEGAL??

And then there's the very first line: Lotteries (also known as raffles, or draws) cannot be run for private or commercial gain.

    Which ear defenders

I reckon you should try to try before you buy on anything like that - I know it's a different product, but the attached ear muffs on the Trend Airshield Pro just didn't clamp onto my head well enough to work. I do have a funny shaped head though.

    Luthier workshop set up ?

I've built a handlful of electrics, and I have to agree that the bandsaw is pretty much the only bit of machinery you need. A router is almost essential for electrics, and if you've got that you can build a thicknessing jig so no need for a big expensive planer thicknesser (and you have to go...
